VICTORIA -- A young woman who was shot and killed by police in New Brunswick on Thursday has been identified by family members as 26-year-old Chantel Moore of the Tlaoquiaht First Nation near Tofino, B.C.

Police in Edmundston, N.B., say they were asked to perform a wellness check on a woman at an apartment building around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

The department said in a statement that the responding officer was confronted by a woman, who was allegedly holding a knife and making threats.

The officer shot the woman. Despite resuscitation efforts, she died at the scene, according to police.

Chantel Moore’s grandmother, Nora Martin, said the family is in mourning and disbelief over what happened.

“Chantel was very friendly, she was very outgoing,” said Martin. “She was well-loved by the family and had numerous friends.”

She said as soon as she heard news of Moore’s death, she felt that race was a factor.

“When I first heard about it, that was my first thought: 'This was racially motivated,'” said Martin.

“We’ve been dealing with police brutality for a number of years,” she added. “I know in my own family it’s been going on for a long time.”  (more...)

  1. I have followed your blog for some time, honestly and objectively, trying to discern where you come from. You tell one side of the story. I am stating that you either tell the other side, objectively, or remove this post and in its place, show a video of yourself, in tears, in front of The Blessed Sacrament Exposed on an Altar in a disclosed Catholic Church, literally, ripping your clothes from your body, until you are completely naked and tears are, literally, flowing down your face, begging for forgiveness for your Satanic Idolotry; with your wife and children on camera as well, to show they are witnessing your public, proper, repentance for this post, which is intended to serve Satan, who is your Adulterous Lover and Lord, as evidenced by this hate filled, violence inciting video. Yes, it is horrendous, that this woman is dead. I cannot imagine the pain her family must be experiencing. My heart breakes for them and may God have mercy on her precious soul. But, you are intentionally trying to bring this to others.

You have one single day to follow my instructions and post the video here, or I will never read your blog again and I will know, with absolute certainly, that you are Lucifer's Lover.

It is your choice. Humble yourself, appropriately, or just stop hiding behind your worship of Satan and come right out and say you love Lucifer with your whole heart and your whole soul.

  2. Anonymous,
From your rant above, I think you can appreciate the humanity of those in an unstable state of mind. They deserve, as children of God, compassion and assistance; not a fusillade of bullets. Place yourself in her position. That should be easy for you.

My father spent his childhood in Lublin Poland, near where the Nazis erected the Majdanek extermination camp meant to clear the region of Catholic Poles and Jews for the settlement of ethnic Germans. Genocide is something I'm not inclined to sit on the fence about. Find the other side of the Majdanek plan, and then apply your new found insights to Chantel Moore's story.
