Former teacher sentenced to jail for child sex offences

LINDSAY - The devastation of lives that results from the sexual predation of children came into stark focus in a Lindsay courtroom on Monday (Sept. 12) as a former teacher was sentenced to 90 days in jail for two sexual offences.

David Bradley, now 59 of Oakwood, was initially charged with six offences in April of 2014 following an investigation that involved three victims under age 18.

In court on Monday, he pleaded guilty to one count of luring a child and one count of making sexually explicit material available to a child before Justice Paul Kane, who accepted a joint submission from the Crown and the defence.

The remaining four charges were withdrawn. Bradley was sentenced immediately after his conviction.

Kawartha Lakes Police began the investigation on March 4, 2014 after they received a complaint from the Trillium Lakelands District School Board regarding an adult having an inappropriate text conversation with a secondary school student.

The OPP’s Technological Crime Unit and Internet Child Exploitation Unit, along with Barrie City Police and RCMP helped with the investigation. Police said three victims were identified, none of whom reside in the Kawartha Lakes area, nor were they in the TLDSB school district.  (more...)
