The whole truth and nothing but the truth

Here's a PISA report that reviews changes in student performance between 2000 and 2009.

Most countries are improving, and the worst and poorest countries are improving the most (as you would expect).  But many high performing rich countries - including Canada, Finland, Australia, and New Zealand - are deteriorating.   These aren't relative scores that compare us to others, they are the summative scores that reflect how our kids are doing year over year.  Canadian students did worse across the board - reading, math, and science - in PISA 2009 than in PISA 2000.  Our large drop in science seems particularly worrisome.  (more...)
