When you involve yourself in the battle over marriage, as I have, you are bound to confront two kinds of what I will call "divorce hypocrisy."
Don't kid kids: Divorce is the #1 problem
Let's get one thing straight -- divorce is the #1 impediment to children's rights. Overwhelmingly it is the children of divorced parents who carry with them the scarring memories of being chattel divvied up before cold-hearted judges, being batted back and forth between separate homes in a depressing "visitation" schedule, being pressured to smile and play nice with new boyfriends and girlfriends of parents who will, in many cases, make these Johnny-come-latelys and Janes-of-the-week your stepdad or stepmom, opening the door to ever more annoying convolutions with stepsiblings, half-siblings, feuds, grudges, and silent treatments ... all while you are a kid and just want the two halves of you to love each other and stop acting like such monsters.
Yes, I said it, divorced people can be monsters. They usually are, in fact. (more...ends with a sweet little surprise)
