Hamilton Muslim parents protest sex-ed curriculum

About 100 parents and young students, all from the Muslim community, protested the province's new sex education curriculum at Lake Avenue elementary school in Stoney Creek this morning.

Mom Rukhsana Amer, who organized the peaceful sidewalk protest, said the parents believe sex education is too early for young grades and some aspects, like masturbation and intercourse, too much even for grades 7 and 8.

"It's not a religious concern, it's a concern as a parent," she said. "We think it's too early, that it's not good for the kids."  (more...)
