Trump targets two Muslim Congresswomen with deportation call after State of Union clash

 

In a fresh display of hostility toward dissent, US President Donald Trump has demanded the deportation of two Muslim members of Congress after they challenged him during his State of the Union address.

Trump demanded on Wednesday that Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar be expelled from the United States following their vocal protest during his address to Congress on Tuesday evening.

The two Democratic lawmakers interrupted the speech - the longest-ever address of its kind - to condemn Trump’s immigration policies, shouting, “You have killed Americans!” before leaving the chamber.

In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump attacked them personally, writing, “When people can behave like that, and knowing that they are Crooked and Corrupt Politicians, so bad for our Country, we should send them back from where they came — as fast as possible.”

Omar, originally from Somalia, has held US citizenship for nearly 30 years, while Tlaib, a Palestinian American born in Detroit, has been a citizen since birth. Under US law, neither can be deported to an ancestral country.

Tlaib pushed back on X, stating, “Can't take two Muslims talking back and correcting him so now he is crashing out. #PresidentMajnoon,” using an Arabic phrase meaning “mad” president.

The clash underscored ongoing friction between the White House and progressive lawmakers critical of the administration.  (more...)

Anti-hate advocates say there’s still work to be done to combat Islamophobia in the province

For many Muslims in Newfoundland and Labrador, Islamophobia became starkly real on Jan. 29, 2017, when a gunman opened fire at a mosque in Quebec City.

Ayse Sule Akinturk, an executive member of the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MANAL), says that for many members of the Muslim community in this province, violent cases of Islamophobia were unimaginable prior to 2017.

“We woke up to this brutal reality, that Islamophobia is real,” she says. “It exists, and it can take very violent forms — can take innocent lives. So we were really shaken to the core.”

Akinturk vividly remembers hearing the devastating news that a gunman opened fire at the Centre culturel islamique de Québec during Isha (night) prayers, killing six Canadians and wounding 19 others. She says when members of the local met right after the news, everyone was “terrified and shaking.”

Sobia Shakih, co-chair of the Anti-Racism Coalition of Newfoundland and Labrador, says the aftermath of the attack was emotionally exhausting. “I was scared. I was scared for my family across the country. I was afraid for Muslims here in St John’s. I was really fearful,” she says.  (more...)

Epstein leveraged his friendship with the chief of DP World to pitch Israeli logistics infrastructure and cybersecurity investments to the UAE.

On December 26, 2025, Israel became the first country to recognize the Republic of Somaliland as an independent state, signing a mutual declaration “in the spirit of the Abraham Accords.” The surprise diplomatic announcement landed after months of public advocacy from one of Somaliland’s most important foreign investors: Dubai’s DP World, whose chief publicly argued for recognition at a conference in October—touting hundreds of millions of dollars invested in the company’s port at Berbera.

The Israeli move inflamed the government of Somalia, and drew denunciations from the African Union and Arab League. Formal recognition of Somaliland strengthens the UAE’s logistics hub in Berbera, where Israel is already building up a military base to protect their Red Sea shipping interests from drone and missile attacks by Yemen’s Houthi government. Israel’s efforts to shore up the government in Hargeisa come as the UAE continues its own brash series of interventions in the Horn of Africa, and support for the genocidal Rapid Support Forces in Sudan.

The strategic gambit in Somaliland marks another chapter in the deepening relationship between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi. In the last two decades of his life, American financier Jeffrey Epstein acted as an informal diplomatic bridge between Israel and the United Arab Emirates—through his intimate friend Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the chairman of DP World and a close associate of the ruler of Dubai.

Epstein took a keen interest in DP World, one the world’s largest container terminal operators, which controls the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) in Dubai, an essential logistics hub for trade transiting through the Persian Gulf. JAFZA is the U.S. Navy’s most frequently visited foreign port, and the U.S. has more ships in UAE ports than any other port outside the United States.  (more...)

To which I responded:

Thank you. Now tell me what you really think. The Jews are becoming progressively more hysterical as they lose control of the narrative. Instead of changing their behavior, they try to generate hatred for Muslims, as the neocons did after 9/11, or hatred of Germans as Morgenthau, Nizer, and Kaufmann did after World War II. All of these narratives are failing as the third republic, the American Empire, and Jewish privilege come to an end.

During the most recent gubernatorial election in Michigan, Dearborn became “a flashpoint for cultural and religious tensions, especially in recent years amid broader U.S. debates over immigration, Islamophobia, and political influence.” According to Republican candidate for Michigan governor Anthony Hudson, the orcs have already taken over Dearborn and are now planning to impose the “Sharia law” that allegedly is already in place there to the rest of Michigan if he is not elected that state’s governor. Grok tells us that “claims of ‘Sharia law’ enforcement in Dearborn are unfounded” but the claim that “the city operates under U.S. and Michigan laws,” did not calm the fears of “far-right activists (often out-of-state)” who were determined to push “anti-Islam narratives” which resulted in street clashes with local Muslims in November 2025.  (more...)

Zohran Mamdani repeals key Adams-era orders on first day as NYC mayor, including IHRA adoption and BDS restrictions.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Thursday moved swiftly on his first day in office, overturning all executive orders signed by his predecessor, Eric Adams, after September 26, 2024, the date Adams was indicted on five federal charges, including bribery, wire fraud, and campaign finance violations, CNN reported.

The revoked measures include a ban on protests outside synagogues, restrictions on city employees cooperating with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, and the city’s adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, a move that has long been controversial.

Under the IHRA definition, statements claiming that “the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor” are considered to deny the Jewish people’s right to self-determination. Critics argue the definition conflates legitimate criticism of "Israel" with antisemitism, a concern cited by opponents of its adoption in New York.

Despite repealing the executive order related to the IHRA definition, Mamdani stated during his first press conference after the inauguration that he would maintain the Office to Combat Antisemitism. The decision surprised observers, as many had expected the incoming mayor to shutter the office, which was established in May under Adams.
