Omar El Akkad’s One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This is a searing indictment of Western liberalism. It especially exposes corporate journalism’s distortions, lies and incitement of a genocide – even while that genocide is being livestreamed to millions of people around the world for all to bear witness.

Written during the peak of Israel’s genocidal attacks on Gaza, El Akkad’s book is a kind of meditation on genocide that will have lasting significance. In the blurbs on the back of the book cover, it is described as “part elegy, part rallying cry” and “a landmark of truth telling and moral courage.”

Its impact may be greater because it avoids the detailed documentation of the atrocities and war crimes committed or the evidence of intent needed to meet the requirements of the United Nations genocide convention.

“This is not an account of [the] carnage,” El Akkad cautions early on. Rather it is “an account of a fracture, a breaking away from the notion that the polite, Western liberal ever stood for anything at all.”

It is also an “account of an ending,” he promises, “the moment millions of people looked at the West, the rules-based order, the shell of modern liberalism and the capitalistic thing it serves, and said: I want nothing to do with this.”  (more...)

Liberal imperialists, who would have been delighted with either Joe Biden or Kamala Harris as president in the last US election, are now up in arms, mourning the global embarrassment Donald Trump has caused them on the pages of The New York Times and beyond.

Trump is too obvious, too crass, too vulgar an imperialist. Their first instinct is to disown him as an anomaly. He looks like a Latin American dictator, an African despot, an Oriental tyrant, or a Russian czar.

He is cast as the American version of Erdogan, Putin, Sisi, Xi - anything, anywhere, so long as it seems far from the US of A. He cannot possibly be American. Except he is - more than any of them - representing 77,284,118 Americans just like him, who eagerly rushed to vote him into power.

This is a bizarre intellectual malady on full display in the US, where badly defeated and demoralised liberals refuse to acknowledge that Trump is a 100 percent American phenomenon. 

He is a homegrown dictator with unabashed fascistic proclivities, barely able to contain his urges, and surrounded by equally 100 percent American sycophants - worse than any clown or court jester ever conjured from their Orientalist imagination.

Just summon your courage and look at his cabinet: doormat lickspittles, competing in barefaced sycophancy.

This is all American. "Made in America." It is not an import. They are making America great again!

Without owning up to Trump as a homegrown crook with a crown on his head, this country will never have a snowball's chance in hell of disentangling itself from this murderous mess.  (more...)

Under the document, such foreign nationals will have the right to apply for temporary residence in Russia "outside the quota approved by the Russian government and without providing documents confirming their knowledge of the Russian language, Russian history and basic laws"

Moscow will provide assistance to any foreigners who want to escape the neoliberal ideals being put forward in their countries and move to Russia, where traditional values reign supreme, according to a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin.

Under the document, such foreign nationals will have the right to apply for temporary residence in Russia "outside the quota approved by the Russian government and without providing documents confirming their knowledge of the Russian language, Russian history and basic laws."

Applications may be based on the rejection of their countries’ policies "aimed at imposing destructive neoliberal ideals on people, which run counter to traditional Russian spiritual and moral values."

The values are listed in the foundations of Russia’s state policy in this field, while the Russian government is expected to compile a list of countries imposing unhealthy attitudes on their citizens. The Foreign Ministry has been instructed to start issuing three-month visas to such applicants as early as in September.

In February, Putin supported the idea of Italian student Irene Cecchini that Russia should ease entry rules for those who share traditional cultural and family values. The head of state agreed that each case requires an individual approach.  (more...)

Zionism has always been a racist, colonial, ideology and Israel has long practiced apartheid. But it’s taken the popular uprising against Israel’s holocaust in Gaza to fully expose its supporters’ racism. Few Canadians highlight this better than Warren Kinsella who long marketed himself as an anti-racist but now blames “multiculturalism” for protesters opposing genocide.

A long-time paid political operative, Kinsella has written books about Canada’s far right. In the mid 1990s he published Web of Hate: Inside Canada’s Far Right Network and a decade ago came out with Fight the Right: A Manual for Surviving the Coming Conservative Apocalypse. In 2019 he was reportedly hired by the Conservatives to paint People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier as a racist.

Canadian Anti-Hate Network founder Bernie Farber calls Kinsella a “friend”. In 2017 one of Farber’s groups had Kinsella moderate a panel with leading anti-racist writer Desmond Cole and National Council of Canadian Muslims executive director Ihsaan Gardee on “increased racist and xenophobic attacks”. In a sign of his standing with left activists at that time, Kinsella was also added to a private Toronto Facebook group set up to oppose overtly racist groups (I was also in this group until someone complained my criticism of the apartheid lobby was “antisemitic”).

But a significant contradiction was always there. While claiming to be an anti-racist activist, Kinsella actually spoke at a 2009 meeting of the far right, openly racist, Jewish Defence League. Seven years later he condemned Green Party members for opposing the explicitly racist Jewish National Fund and was previously on the board of the Canada-Israel Committee.

It has become steadily more difficult for Kinsella and other staunch Zionists to claim anti-racism. And over the past seven months it’s completely fallen apart.  (more...)

Canada’s liberal political establishment are echoing Kahanist fascists in their smears of internationalist, anti-genocide, activists.

On Monday evening thousands marched through downtown Toronto against Canada’s complicity in Israel’s assault on Rafah. The emergency protest began at the Israeli consulate on Bloor Street, marched towards the US consulate on University Avenue and ended at Yonge & Dundas. On route protesters passed an entrance of Mount Sinai Hospital where two flag waving men, who climbed other spots during the protest, got atop the scaffolding of a publicly funded medical institution with Jewish roots.

Prominent Jewish activist Anna Lippman shared a photo of the costumed “Palestinian Spider-Man” (spiderman4palestine) waving a Palestinian flag above a Mount Sinai Hospital sign with the words, “Palestine will be free. Hands Off Rafah.” A follower of numerous pro-Palestinian accounts, the former head of the fascist Jewish Defence League (JDL) Meir Weinstein quickly reposted Lipman’s photo adding, “The pro Hamas gangs are now targeting the Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Where is the police? Is it now “Open Season on Jews?”

As has occurred on numerous occasions in recent months, Weinstein’s smear against the anti-genocide protest was soon echoed by mainstream Zionist lobby groups, commentators and politicians. Liberal MP Marco Mendicino declared, “targeting Mount Sinai Hospital to incite intifada against Israel and the Jewish people is flagrantly antisemitic” while Prime Minister Justin Trudeau opined, “the demonstration at Mount Sinai Hospital yesterday was reprehensible.” For her part, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow released a statement claiming, “yesterday’s actions at Mount Sinai Hospital, a hospital founded by Toronto’s Jewish community, were unacceptable. Targeting Jewish institutions is antisemitic.”

Echoing the former NDP MP, party leader Jagmeet Singh wrote “Yesterday, the Mount Sinai Hospital was targeted because of its ties to the Jewish community in Toronto.”

Taking the farcical claims even further, Ontario Liberal party leader Bonnie Crombie declared: “I’ve been torn up by the accounts of protestors infiltrating Mount Sinai Hospital, intimidating Jewish patients and doctors, and threatening our already weakened healthcare system. These antisemitic actions are intentional attempts at destabilizing the safety and security of Jewish people living in Ontario. I condemn these indefensible acts and urge governments to deploy the resources necessary to ensure our communities can be safe and welcoming to Jews and all people who call Ontario home.”  (more...)

Poland just “elected” Donald Tusk, as their new Prime Minister.  THIS IS NOT GOOD. Donald promises to roll back many of the Conservative policies that have reigned supreme in Poland for a long time. He said he is going to open up the country to MASS MIGRATION from many third world countries, and work to “forge closer ties to the European Union” He is totally liberal & RADICALLY so. Make NO mistake, this guy is an abject DISASTER for Poland, who until Tusk was only one of two European countries that was totally OPPOSED to mass migration, Hungary also.

The media is saying that, sure, child trafficking is real and bad but it’s just too much to validate that QAnon cares about this platform. It’s not that the movie shines a light on child trafficking. It’s just that it is too validating for conspiracy theorists. WHAT!? How can one raise too much awareness about child trafficking?? If you’re afraid of too much disruption in child trafficking, that would mean you are…for it?

The State Duma has approved a bill in the final reading which would prohibit most medical interventions needed for transitioning

The Russian State Duma, the lower chamber of parliament, has passed legislation that makes sex transitioning in Russia illegal, with a handful of medical exceptions. Lawmakers cited moral obligations to resist the transgender “industry” and foreign influence as reasons for the amendments.

The bill, which was approved in the third and final reading on Friday, bans medical interventions aimed at changing sex, as well as relevant procedures to change the legal status of patients undergoing them.

Some medical facilities will be authorized by the government to perform procedures that are required to treat “congenital physical anomalies in formation of sex in children,” according to the draft law. A medical council will decide whether such intervention is necessary.

The restrictions are necessary to oppose the “destructive” influence on Russian society coming from the West, supporters of the bill explained.  (more...)

Poland Should Leave the American Sector Now!

 

 American domination over Poland should be analyzed on several levels. First, there is direct political and administrative control and this is not only about the sphere of intergovernmental and interallied arrangements. Working in the regional council years ago, I was surprised to learn that the American Embassy conducts regular briefings and teleconferences with the provincial governors, i.e. regional government representatives (in the rank corresponding to a deputy minister in the Polish system). Lower functionaries of the American diplomatic mission in Poland receive reports and issue direct orders to high- and middle-level Polish officials, managing straight on local matters, including elements of transport system, airports and highways construction, border crossing management, and of course public order and security. For Poles, such a positioning of a foreign Embassy, completely openly and officially above the structures of the state, evokes an unambiguous association with the period of the collapse of the Polish state in the 18th Century, when similar practices were typical for the ambassadors of the Russian, Prussian and Austrian empires. Even during Soviet period, control was more discreet and less ostentatious.

That was quite similar with the presence of the Soviet Army in communist Poland. Unlike today with the Americans and their Polish supporters, the Soviets showed a certain degree of sensitivity and understanding for Polish feelings and national pride.  Stationing of the Soviet Army was not exposed in any way. Practically, apart from the actual places of deployment, the Soviets were not visible at all, they functioned almost exclusively in their bases, and there was a censorship record in the media on these topics. It was kind a shameful affair, even for the Polish communists, who liked to present themselves as the lesser evil, also dissatisfied with the Soviet guests. No one has ever thought about celebrating the foreign troops presence in Poland, no joy parades were organized for this reason, children in schools were not asked to draw cheerful pictures expressing delight that we were occupied. And this is exactly what happens now, how we are obliged to react on the Americans, despite their activity is more than burdensome. G.I. Joes have caused hundreds of road accidents, provoked fights and argues in bars, harassed Polish women and still the only acceptable reaction should be constant joy and invoking “strategic Polish-American friendship”. Once upon a time, Chrystia Freeland attempted to relate to Canadians' cost-of-living concerns with a personal anecdote — and it didn't produce a fairy-tale ending.

"I personally, as a mother and wife, look carefully at my credit card bill once a month, and last Sunday I said to the kids, 'You're older now. You don't watch Disney anymore. Let's cut that Disney Plus subscription,'" Freeland told Global News in an interview that aired on Nov. 6.

She went on to say: "I believe that I need to take exactly the same approach with the federal government's finances, because that's the money of Canadians."

Maybe Freeland meant to show that managing a $430-billion budget is not all that different from handling a household one.

But as word of the clip spread throughout the land, and was viewed nearly a million times in just a couple of days, so did outrage.
