Synod Blues
I woke up this morning
With a mitre on my head x2
It felt too judgemental, so I put on a Stetson instead.
O sinner,
get up off your knees x2
You just keep right on sinning
And get your communion from me
Have you heard the story, have you heard the news?
There's been much excitement about my heretical views
O Lordy, I've got those synod blues
Why must you be so stubborn baby?
Why can't we all just pick and choose?
Write me a letter,
Send me a call on that telephone line x2
I'll tell you all about it
'Bout commandment 6 and number 9
Commandment 6 was finished,
Commandment 9 was done x2
When Jesus told those lawyers,
Ev'ry married woman's gonna have a bit of fun
When God created a woman, way back in Gensi'
The Lord turned round to Adam saying,
Go forth and do as you please.
O Lordy, I've got those synod blues
Why must you be so stubborn baby?
Why can't we all just pick and choose?
