UK: Child sex cases soar by third with 85 reported to police EVERY DAY

Devastating: Abuse can affect children for life
The number of child sex offences investigated by police has soared by a third with 85 reported every day, new figures reveal.

Nearly half of the cases reported in a one-year period from 2013-4 were under 11 years of age, including 94 babies and nearly 3,000 under-fives.

Among the offences reported were rape, other serious sexual assaults and grooming, the NSPCC said.

In total 31,238 child sex offences were reported – an increase of 9,000 on 2012-3.  (more...)
