Crown appeals teacher’s acquittal

Erin Osmond left Saskatoon Court of Queen's Bench on May 25, 2015 after
being found not guilty of two counts of sexual exploitation. The Crown
prosecution gave notice it will appeal the acquittal of Osmond.
The Crown prosecution gave notice it will appeal the acquittal of Erin Osmond, the high school teacher who was criminally charged for a relationship she had with her former student.

A notice of appeal was filed with the Court of Appeal in Regina this week. A notice simply states the intention to appeal and does not include full arguments.

In May, Justice Grant Currie found Erin Osmond, 29, not guilty of two counts of sexual exploitation in connection to the relationship she had with a 16-year-old boy in 2013 in the Watrous area.  (more...)
