Statement from Wolastoqewi-Mothers, Grandmothers, and Aunties
As Wolastoqewi-Mothers, Grandmothers, and Aunties—keepers of life, memory, and spirit—we speak today not out of anger, but out of deep sorrow and responsibility.
Our teachings remind us that every child is sacred, that land is not a possession but a living relative, and that dignity belongs to all peoples, no matter how far from our own homeland they may be. We have long followed a path of non-interference, respecting the sovereignty and self-determination of other nations. This is a principle that has allowed us to survive, to heal, and to remain rooted in our own identity.
Yet, there are moments in history when silence becomes too heavy to bear.
As women whose families and ancestors have known the weight of dispossession, forced removals, and systemic erasure, our hearts cannot turn away from the suffering in Gaza. We see in the cries of Palestinian Mothers the echoes of our own. We see in the rubble of homes, the memory of our sacred places lost. We see in the denial of basic humanity, the long shadow of genocide.
To witness such loss and remain silent would be a betrayal of our own stories. (more...)
From the banks of Wolastoq to the shores of Gaza, a call for peace
Co-founder of the legendary rock group Pink Floyd Roger Waters discusses the genocide in Gaza, the deterioration of the West and his new movie on this episode of The Chris Hedges Report.
Yesterday, a report by four Canadian NGO's showed Canada has been sending arms and military armaments to Israel, despite telling the public it isn't. More than 140 shipments. Today, 26 Canadian senators called for a full arms embargo on Israel. I had just wrapped up my interview with Senator Woo when the Canadian government announced its intention to recognize the state of Palestine at the 80th meeting of the UN general assembly in September. That recognition is contingent. Senator Woo has a lot to say about those contingencies.
The people buried in the Paupers’ Graveyard do not feature in histories of the British Empire.
A visitor will not learn their names, just that they belonged to “Wexford’s poor, deprived, handicapped and destitute,” as an inscription beneath a Celtic cross reads.
Many had lived and died in the workhouse of this town on Ireland’s southerneast coast.
The workhouse was set up in 1845, the year when Ireland’s Great Famine began.
The workhouse was, in effect, a prison for the impoverished.
Inmates were separated from their families and forced to toil for 11 hours per day. The rationale behind having extremely harsh conditions was that only the most desperate would seek help – if that is the right word – from such an institution.
As I walked around the Paupers’ Graveyard in Wexford earlier this week, I thought about Refaat Alareer, the eloquent and brave Palestinian scholar assassinated by Israel in December 2023.
Refaat drew parallels between Palestine and Ireland. In October 2023, he posted on social media that he used to inform students about how “Britain helped exacerbate the Irish famine that happened 170 years ago,” before observing that “the US/UK are helping Israel starve Palestinians in Gaza.”
The following month, he wrote that “famine is a pure European weapon in modern times,” citing the example of Ireland, as well as Bengal. (more...)
Britain forced a famine on Ireland, now it’s taking part in the Gaza genocide
I used to angrily tell my student how Britain helped exacerbate the Irish Famine that happened 170 years ago. Can you imagine people starving in the 1840s?!

The Conservative Party seems to be going all-in on defending a Christian Nationalist MAGA preacher who has brought his distorted version of the religion and corny-ass music to Canada.
Sean Feucht is a failed GOP candidate who gained fame for ignoring COVID precautions to hold mass religious gatherings across the United States. He regularly posts anti-LGBTQ, misogynist and generally just…strange…stuff on Twitter.
He’s also previously, according to Rolling Stone, enlisted security volunteers that included at least one charged Jan. 6 defendant and a notorious member of the Proud Boys (a designated terrorist group in Canada).
Now, the Conservative politicians who are vocally defending Sean Feucht claim to be doing so — mostly — in the name of the charter.
But what’s interesting is that many of them seemed to understand the existence of a “reasonable limits” clause in the Charter when they abused it to try to shut down student protests against the genocide in Gaza.
With the help of Kate Burns, an expert who has covered Feucht extensively, I break down this MAGA preacher panic.
Full recording of a Parliamentary Press Conference held on July 29 2025 to present a new report authored by the Palestinian Youth Movement and World BEYOND War and put out by the Arms Embargo Now coalition revealing hundreds of ongoing weapons shipments from Canada to Israel.
Press conference speakers included:
The report is available at armsembargonow.ca/report
There is a story that should have been broken by now, but since it involves a legacy media outlet, the only people who knows about it are viewers of Blackballed and the Political Dark Arts show.
The Globe and Mail have painted themselves into a corner, and the only way out is to tell the truth.
Background:
A new bombshell report just dropped that exposes hundreds of Canadian arms shipments to Israel.
That means Canadian goods, including military weapons parts and ammunition, have continued to enter Israel despite our government publicly claiming it halted arms shipments to Israel in January 2024.
Now I reached out to the foreign affairs minister’s office and they sent me an…interesting…response about this.
One that suggested that either the government doesn’t really know what’s going on here, or they’re obfuscating it.
It comes as even Israel-based human rights groups have come out and said what Palestinians and anyone with eyes have been saying for some time now: that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
We are watching as Israel continues to block humanitarian aid from a population that is starving — even as the UN now warns Gaza is “now on the brink of a full-scale famine.”
Now this new report exposes what its authors called a “vastly different reality than government claims: a continuous, massive pipeline of Canadian weapons flowing directly to Israel.”
On July 19th, Ynet announced Israeli artificial intelligence startup Decart “has unveiled a groundbreaking real-time video transformation technology, setting a new benchmark in the fast-evolving field of generative media,” following “months of anticipation and extensive fundraising.” Dubbed Mirage, it “allows continuous transformation of live or pre-recorded video content without interruption, maintaining high quality and impressive stability throughout.” Obvious suspicions arise the tech’s true purpose is to concoct convincing, fabricated kompromat on targets, with no risk of Zionist intelligence being publicly exposed.
Such an interpretation isn’t immediately obvious from the description of Mirage offered by Ynet. The outlet states the tech “transforms the very definition of video - from a static, pre-recorded format to a living, flexible, and interactive medium.” This reportedly opens up “new business models for content creators, brands, and platforms.” For example, “broadcasters and advertisers” could “generate multiple versions of a single piece of content during a live transmission…[tailoring] content in real-time to different audience segments.”
Yet, buried in the Ynet report is reference to how Decart was forged in 2023 by Dean Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, while they were serving in the Zionist Occupation Forces’ fearsome Unit 8200. The shadowy spying cell conducts clandestine operations, signals intelligence collection, code decryption, counterintelligence, cyberwarfare, and surveillance. Many of its veterans have established major tech companies, frequently operating in Silicon Valley. Decart generated enormous early interest among investors, raising $53 million just two months after official launch, and securing a $500 million valuation.
Among those investors is Zeev Ventures, founded by Israeli-American Oren Zeev. Its other investments include Israeli firm Riverside, an audio and video recording service. Its staff is riddled with ZOF veterans. Moreover, Decart has thoroughly impressed Technion - the Israel Institute of Technology. The pair have announced a joint AI research center, “to strengthen academic research, knowledge development, and technological innovation.” Under its auspices, the Institute’s elite honours program will be renamed the “Technion-Decart Honors Program”. Representatives for the Arms Embargo Now campaign have released a scathing report (https://armsembargonow.ca/report) that shows Canada has been actively arming Israel as recently as July 2025.
Haneen from the Palestinian Youth Movement and Rachel from World Beyond War, share details included in the report, including what kind of weapons we're sending, where they're going exactly and the routes these shipments are taking.
They also provide an inside look into their methodology, their motivations and what they'd like to see happen as a result - namely a "political crisis" for the Canadian government.
With this information, the activists behind the report will be helping to mobilize folks, including (hopefully) elements in Labour that have close connections to these weapons.
Tens of millions of dollars a year. More than a 100 million unaccounted for. Hundreds and hundreds of burner charities. The Canada Revenue Agency has a lot of explaining to do. Dr. Miles Howe has a new report out and its much more egregious than the last one. Zionist philanthropy in Canada is directly complicit in Israel's genocide and occupation.
March 26, 1994 historian & author Anton Chaitkin speaking in Long Beach California. Starting from a shooting massacre in Hebron during a religious service, Chaitkin describes the various means by which the British Empire since the Venetian takeover in the 18th Century has used to control and brainwash people. In Southwest Asia, extremists of Muslim, & Jewish faiths have a British origin. Also, organized crime, its defenders in the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai Brith and the subsequent creation of Hollywood & Las Vegas, newspaper cartels such as the Hollinger Corporation, Geopolitics, crackpot movements like Theosophy, Satanism, Astrology, the belief in the End Times & Revelation, the installation of Hitler as dictator through the bankers Montague Norman and Hjalmar Schacht and the brainwashing of Hitler through British cult movements like the Thule Society. A lengthy question and answer period is included.
EU refuses to act against Israel despite its blatant war crimes in the Gaza Stip. Elsewhere, criticism is loud and clear: in the Global South, among former diplomats and in Israel itself.
The European Union continues to refuse any action against Israel in response to its brutal warfare in the Gaza Strip, even after the most recent plans for deporting and incarcerating the Palestinian population. The latest decision to do nothing was affirmed by EU foreign ministers at their meeting on 16 July. They argued that a promise of a short-term expansion of Israeli aid deliveries into Gaza was sufficient grounds for blocking the demands of a few EU countries, including Spain, to at least suspend the EU’s Association Agreement with Israel. Germany in particular has been a strong advocate of blocking any practical measures against Israel’s far-right government. And Berlin can rely on support from the right-wing governments of Italy and Hungary. Yet the voices of criticism and active protest against Israel’s war on Gaza are growing louder. Even a former Israeli prime minister, Ehud Olmert, is saying that the planned enclosed “humanitarian city” to be created by Israel on the rubble of Gaza, in which some 600,000 Palestinians are to be kept as a first step, will in fact be “a concentration camp”. Meanwhile, a gathering of thirty or so countries in Bogotá is seeking to introduce concrete measures against Israel. This “emergency summit” is calling out the West’s “exceptionalism” expressed in its decision to ignore international law.
In the Columbian capital, Bogotá, a number of countries making up The Hague Group came together last Tuesday for their first ‘emergency summit’. The organisation was founded on 31 January in The Hague to stop further violations of international law by Israel in the Gaza war. It seeks to call those responsible for war crimes to account. This move also means countering the “exceptionalism” of Western states and the “broader erosion of international law”, as South Africa’s minister for international relations, Roland Lamola, expressed the group’s mission last week.[1] Apart from South Africa the members of The Hague Group include Bolivia, Honduras, Columbia, Cuba, Malaysia, Namibia und Senegal. The group is pushing above all for an end to arms supplies to Israel. Also invited to the ‘emergency summit’, which finished on Wednesday, are around two dozen other countries. Although most of these can be described as part of the Global South, they also include some European states like Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, and Norway. The meeting is intended as a forum for finding new ways of isolating Israel in response to its blatant war crimes in the Gaza Strip and stopping the ongoing violence against Palestinians. (more...)
“The fact that churches have not sufficiently taken up this moral responsibility is a damning indictment. To brazenly prefer their comfort, interests, connections, and desire to avoid embarrassment is moral bankruptcy,” says Jonathan Kuttab.
We have all witnessed close to two years of Israel’s genocide in Gaza but heads of the church—its spiritual leaders, its bishops, its pastors—have yet to take meaningful action on Gaza.
I’m talking about a clear strategy of nonviolence: speaking courageously from the pulpit, creating up-to-date educational resources, taking to the streets, visiting en masse the town halls and offices of elected leaders, boycotting, divesting, and even civil disobedience.
Responses to last week’s bombing of the Holy Family [Catholic] Church in Gaza —when three people were killed and many others were wounded—are an example of the church’s failure to speak and act prophetically.
Pope Leo’s response was a disappointment to Palestinian Christians. In his statement, he spoke of the bombing as a “military attack.” There was no effort to put the incident in the context of Israel’s genocidal campaign. No call to the world’s leaders—let alone the church’s—to rise up and act to end Israel’s campaign. The Pope renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire, saying, “Only dialogue and reconciliation can ensure enduring peace”—as if dialogue and reconciliation were possible when one party is acting with international impunity to destroy a people.
Bishops in the U.S. followed Pope Leo’s lead. Archbishop Timothy Broglio, president of the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB), said in a statement, “With [Pope Leo], the Catholic bishops of the United States are deeply saddened to learn about the deaths and injuries at Holy Family Church in Gaza caused by a military strike…” Saddened, not angered. Again, without putting the bombing in the context of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Broglio could only say—on behalf of all of the Catholic bishops in the U.S.—“Our prayers are [with the church’s parishioners].”
So, too, the Commission of the [Catholic] Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE). In a statement, Bishop Mariano Crociata, the president of COMECE, said, “We do not yet know exactly what happened, but I can say that such acts renew our sorrow… and compel us to reaffirm, with strength, our firm opposition to every form of war and armed conflict.” He said, “I join the cry of those who call for peace and for respect of every human life….” Not exactly the bold statement that Palestinians in Gaza might have hoped for. They are doing the crying. They’re waiting for the church to do the acting. (more...)

On July 22, an Interim Staff Report on President Biden’s FBI Catholic spy ring was released by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan. Thanks to Kash Patel, the current FBI director, some of the information is new. When pieced together what we already knew, the picture that emerges is one of an FBI that went off the rails. Christopher Wray, who led the FBI under Biden, bears much of the blame.
The FBI was focused on “radical-traditionalist Catholics.” Who are these people? According to the FBI’s own internal review of this matter, “investigators found that many FBI employees could not even define the meaning of ‘radical-traditionalist Catholic’ when preparing, editing, or reviewing” the Richmond Field office memorandum that authorized the probe.
In other words, the FBI decided that these Catholics were a problem, even though they were unable to explain who they are. FBI agents were convinced that the so-called rad-trads were “linked” to “racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists.” What made them think this way is still a mystery, but we know they found nothing. That’s because there is no record of very conservative Catholics linking up with violent thugs. Indeed, on this basis alone there was no reason to investigate them.
This didn’t stop some FBI operatives from categorizing “certain Catholic Americans as potential domestic terrorists.” They came to this absurd conclusion based on articles their employees read. “How Extremist Gun Culture is Trying to Co-opt the Rosary” is one of the gems they named as evidence of the nefarious agenda of “rad-trad” Catholics. The Netherlands has officially listed "Israel" as a foreign state threat for the first time, citing disinformation campaigns and attempts to pressure the International Criminal Court.
For the first time, the Netherlands has included "Israel" on its list of foreign states that pose a threat to national security, according to a new report from the Dutch National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV).
The assessment, titled Assessment of Threats from State Actors, highlights efforts by "Israel" to manipulate Dutch public opinion and influence political decision-making through disinformation tactics.
Among the incidents cited is a case from last year, when an Israeli ministry reportedly circulated a document to Dutch journalists and politicians via unofficial channels. The document contained unusual and sensitive personal information about Dutch citizens. This followed tensions linked to a rally in Amsterdam supporting the football team Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The NCTV pointed to the circulation of such material as part of a broader concern over disinformation campaigns aiming to undermine Dutch democratic institutions.
The report also expressed alarm over growing threats from both "Israel" and the US directed at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. These pressures, the agency noted, may interfere with the court’s ability to carry out its judicial responsibilities. (more...)

In an emotionally charged interview with Trevor Phillips on Sky News, musician and humanitarian Bob Geldof condemned the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza, delivering sharp criticism of both the Israeli government and the broader international response. He accused Israeli authorities of "dangling food in front of starving, panicked, exhausted mothers," only for them to be "wantonly shot." Geldof described the actions of the Israeli government and the IDF as a “disgrace,” branding Prime Minister Netanyahu and the military leadership as “liars.”
He also criticised the UK government’s response saying it is inadequate and dismissed the focus on recognising a Palestinian state as a distraction from the immediate crisis. In his view, political gestures could wait, what matters now is ending the starvation and violence without delay.
Germany announces a ‘cyber and security pact’ with Israel, including cooperation on ‘cyberdefence’ and a closer intelligence partnership. Meanwhile reports of shocking IDF war crimes continue.
Germany is expanding its military, cyber and intelligence cooperation with Israel. Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt announced a “cyber and security pact” with its close ally over the weekend. The agreement is to include cooperation on “cyberdefence” and anti-drone systems as well as intensified intelligence cooperation. Israel’s capabilities in the field of cyber warfare are considered outstanding. They were already on displayed over fifteen years ago with a sensational cyber sabotage strike on Iran’s nuclear programme. Today, those sophisticated capabilities include the controlling of military operations using artificial intelligence (AI), first tested on a large scale in Israel’s war with Iran. Berlin can build on its long-standing intensive military cooperation with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and exploit its close linkages in the field of armaments. This even deeper alliance for repressive expertise and military development is being pursued by the German government at a time when new allegations of war crimes levelled against the IDF are coming to light. It also helps to explain the background to Germany’s harsh domestic repression of supporters of the Palestinians.
With its plans for close cooperation on cyberwarfare Berlin can build on a long tradition of intensive collaboration between the German Armed Forces and the IDF. It began back in the 1950s with secret meetings to arrange German arms supplies. Military cooperation expanded significantly in the 1980s, and even more so in the 1990s.[1] On the German side, one objective was to benefit from the operational experience of the IDF for the planned reshaping of the Bundeswehr into an intervention force with global reach. German soldiers were trained in Israel in, among other things, house-to-house and tunnel combat. The Bundeswehr itself describes its cooperation with the IDF as “incredibly close”.[2] Alongside this alliance, the arms industries of the two countries have pursued increasingly close partnerships. One outcome was the first Heron 1 drones, leased by the Bundeswehr for deployment in Afghanistan from 2010 and produced by a consortium consisting of IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries) and Germany’s Rheinmetall Group.[3] And, in 2022, the decision was taken to procure Israeli Arrow 3 missile system for the planned European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI).[4] Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’ missile defence system, now shown to be vulnerable, was widely cited as a model for the ESSI. GoFundMe donations, social media posts, and board memberships reveal how a handful of faculty members are backing Zionist doxxing outfits.
In March 2024, Documenting Jew Hatred on Campus (DJHC) emerged on Instagram and X as another node in a network of organizations decrying pro-Palestine faculty and students at Columbia University. The group slowly grew to focus on what it called other “participating schools”—such as CUNY, which it called a “hotbed of antisemitism.” Like its fellow Zionist doxxing outfits Betar and Canary Mission, its preferred solution was student deportation. On Election Day, DJHC posted a clip of Trump promising to deport “jihad-sympathizers and America-hating radicals,” and wrote “We have the receipts!” It announced on social media that it had names of students, once tagging Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Throughout November and into December, the DJHC account continued celebrating the prospect of student deportations. And on December 5, a couple months before such deportations began in earnest, Jeffrey Lax—chair of the business department at Kingsborough College at the City University of New York (CUNY)—joined the advisory board of DJHC. S.A.F.E. Campus, an organization that Lax had founded in 2023, was already serving as DJHC’s fiscal sponsor, which allowed the newer group to receive tax-exempt donations.
Lax is one of a small but active cohort of professors on American campuses vocally supporting groups pushing student deportations, even as the detention of students on visas and green cards has stoked anxieties in many university communities. A longtime pro-Israel activist at CUNY and a frequent contributor to right-wing media, Lax has initiated repeated lawsuits against colleagues, his union, and the university for alleged discrimination from pro-Palestine members of the campus community. Now, Lax appears to be reprising this role in groups like DJHC, continuing to champion the administration’s targeting of noncitizen student activists.
Last week, when CUNY’s Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez was interrogated by House Republicans over alleged antisemitism at the university system, lawmakers referenced many of the same incidents Lax’s groups had focused on over the last year. Lax himself was in attendance. “ I am so proud to have been involved in the process that led to this day,” he wrote on X. (more..)

After nearly two years of Israel's Western-backed genocide, the peoples of the Arab and Muslim world are seething with anger, yet there are few overt signs of a popular uprising in Arab states that are ruled by pro-Washington autocrats.
As more and more Palestinian children die of starvation in Gaza, can those autocrats survive? Might we be on the cusp of a massive anti-Western uprising in West Asia?
To explore these questions, Dimitri Lascaris speaks with Vijay Prashad.
Vijay is a historian and journalist, and the executive director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research. He is also the chief editor of LeftWord Books and the author of forty books, including The Darker Nations: A People’s History of the Third World, The Poorer Nations: A Possible History of the Global South, and the Fragility of U.S. Power, written with Noam Chomsky.

There was a time when American clergy were the nation’s conscience. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, many abolitionist Protestant ministers were leaders in the movement to end slavery. Congregationalist Jonathan Edwards, Jr. (1746-1801) was among the many outstanding voices in the Abolition Movement.
Since World War I, few members of the clergy have shown the courage to speak out against the socio-economic evils of the day, such as our corrupt system of capitalism. Fewer still have shown the courage to oppose our national addiction to war; instead, they pray for the troops. During the American War on Viet Nam, Catholic priests like the Berrigan brothers, Phil and Dan, awakened people of all faiths to the crimes of the United States.
Today, amidst the U.S. backed slaughter in Gaza, Ukraine, Syria, and elsewhere, the complicity of silence of U.S. clergy is shamefully ubiquitous. Has our national conscience been numbed and desensitized by our acceptance of government-led violence that incinerated multi-millions of German, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Afghan and Iraqi civilians?
Americans have little hope of seeing the likes of an abolitionist clergy movement or droves of Catholic priests to end United States support of Israeli terrorism. Silence is complicity, said Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., many times in the 1950s and 1960s, before he was silenced by gunfire.
The U.S. supports Israeli terror in Gaza with almost total support of the religious community. Pope Francis was outspoken in his condemnation of the Israeli killing of Palestinians in Gaza and called for an international investigation to determine genocide, but few of his bishops or priests speak to this from the altar.
Pope Leo XIV, the first American Pope, seems willing to take a stance. It is highly unlikely, however, that Catholic clergy will change their devotion to the flag over any plea to follow the non-violent Jesus. Catholic priests, like most loyal Americans, have been indoctrinated to accept U.S. government killings, not as murders, but as a way to keep Americans safe and secure. The U.S. flag is embraced by clergy more than the symbolic cross of the loving, non-violent Christ. (more...)

Bristol Aerospace and Magellan’s decades-long production of military technology ties Canada’s heartland to conflicts worldwide
The Canadian arms industry is often seen as heavily concentrated in eastern Canada, and for good reason. Montréal ranks among the world’s leading aerospace hubs, home to major companies like CAE, Pratt & Whitney, and Bell Textron. In southern Ontario, the sector is anchored by General Dynamics Land Systems in London, along with the Canadian headquarters of US defence giants such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, and L3Harris in Ottawa, which also hosts CANSEC, the country’s largest global defence and security trade show. Ammunition production is widespread across Québec and Ontario, too. Meanwhile, Halifax stands out as a key player thanks to Irving Shipbuilding, IMP Aerospace and Defence, and its role in hosting the Halifax International Security Forum.
Western Canada also plays a significant, though often overlooked, role in the country’s defence industry. Vancouver and Victoria contribute through naval production, while Winnipeg distinguishes itself for its aerospace manufacturing, which is frequently overshadowed despite its importance. The city also serves as the operational headquarters for the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian NORAD Region, with nearby Portage la Prairie supporting RCAF pilot training. Yet public awareness of Winnipeg’s military ties remains surprisingly limited, even though the local NHL team’s logo is based on the CF-18 fighter jet, a design that required Department of National Defence approval and is celebrated with flyovers during playoff season.
The history of Winnipeg’s Bristol Aerospace—acquired by Magellan Aerospace in 1997 and still operating out of its original facilities in St. James and Rockwood—offers a revealing lens into the broader defence industry and its far-reaching, often devastating global impacts. Magellan’s role in producing key components for the F-35 fighter jet—deployed by Israel in its ongoing assault on Palestine—is just one of many stark examples of how Winnipeg’s aerospace sector contributes to military operations around the world, particularly in the Global South. The real “Winnipeg Jets” extend far beyond the hockey rink. (more...)

Since the first student encampment in solidarity with Palestine went up at McGill University last year, the student movement has only grown, organizing and diversifying tactics to pressure schools to divest academically and financially from Israel.
In Palestine on Campus, The Rover’s Savannah Stewart and Justin Khan look back on the events of the last school year at McGill, Concordia and Dawson College, revealing how pro-Palestinian activism has raised tensions between university administrations and their student bodies and been the target of pushback from a variety of sources.
Our investigation highlights an apparent lack of communication between university administrations and the student movement for Palestine, which enjoys broad support among the student body as evidenced by incredibly successful strike votes and divestment votes at both universities.
In the absence of a meaningful reconciliation between the goals of the administrations and the demands of the students, we hope this documentary can help initiate the necessary conversations to chart a path forward.
It’s too late. But that was the plan all along. ‘The General’s Plan’ as it came to be known. The genocidal general, Giora Eiland. On November 19, 2023, he said to starve the people of Gaza and move them all into the areas of the south. He said it openly. He even wrote it in an OpEd in Yedioth Aronoth - Israel’s most read paper.
Don’t ask how we got here. We held the genocidaires hand the entire time. We coddled those who wanted to support the state committing the genocide. Who wanted to feel comfortable supporting Israel. We asked them if they're alright. We held roundtables so they could give testimony about how they’re feeling. Never ask how we got here because we watched it all unfold in 4K.
On July 1, British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper announced that Palestine Action (PA), a crusading campaign effort, would be proscribed as a terrorist group. Describing the movement as “dangerous,” she charged that its “orchestration and enaction of aggressive and intimidatory attacks against businesses, institutions and the public” had “crossed the thresholds established in the Terrorism Act 2000.” As a result, PA is now the country’s first protest group to be formally branded a terrorist entity, placing it in the same league as al-Qaida and ISIS.
Based on Cooper’s characterization, a typical consumer of mainstream media might conclude PA posed a grave threat to Britain’s public safety and national security. However, other comments by Cooper appeared to undermine her incendiary headline charges. In justifying PA’s proscription, the Home Secretary cited recent actions conducted by the movement. These included “attacks” on factories owned by defense contractors Thales in 2022 and Instro Precision in 2024, each causing more than £1 million in damages.
As hundreds of lawyers and multiple U.N. experts argued in the week before the proscription took effect, the move set an extremely dangerous precedent not only in Britain but for Palestine solidarity efforts worldwide. The group did not engage in activities that could plausibly be categorized as “terrorism”—a highly contentious concept, popularized by Israel for political reasons—in other Western jurisdictions. Average citizens were not in Palestine Action’s crosshairs, and not once did the group’s activism harm a human being.
Instead, PA engaged in multifaceted civil disobedience, targeting firms closely tied to Israel’s slaughter of Palestinians, most prominently the Israeli-owned defense giant Elbit Systems. Entities providing services to those targets—such as companies leasing commercial space to Elbit—were also in the group’s crosshairs. These actions proved devastatingly effective, hitting Elbit’s bottom line at home and abroad. PA’s disruption also brought unwelcome mainstream attention to Elbit’s operations, spotlighting the firm in ways it clearly sought to avoid.
In proscribing Palestine Action, the British government may have been motivated, in part, by a desire to avoid awkward questions and inconvenient disclosures. In one of the group’s final actions, on June 19, several members broke into Royal Air Force base Brize Norton and defaced two military planes parked there. The site is a key hub for refueling and repairing British jets that have conducted hundreds of reconnaissance flights over Gaza since the genocide began in October 2023.
These routine surveillance flights are just one component of London’s active involvement in the genocide, which authorities systematically seek to conceal from public view. Another is the presence of the SAS conducting “counterterrorism” operations in Gaza, which has been covered up via direct state decree. However, the origins of Palestine Action’s proscription stretch back much further. The story behind the ban is a sordid and largely hidden one marked by long-running, opaque collusion between British and Israeli authorities and the global arms industry. (more...)

Recently prominent former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson said that any American, who serves in the Israeli military should lose their citizenship. “There are a lot of Americans who’ve served in the IDF, they should lose their citizenship,” he told a right-wing audience. “There’s a lot of Americans who’ve served in Ukraine, and they should lose their citizenship. You can’t fight for another country and remain an American.”
Prominent Canadian military historian Jack Granatstein has made similar statements in the past. In 2014 he told an interviewer, “in my view no one who is a Canadian should be able to enlist in some other country’s military and keep his Canadian citizenship.”
Joining a foreign army should rest uneasily with right-wing nationalist thinking. It’s common for governments everywhere to seek to deter their citizens from joining other countries’ militaries. Canada’s Foreign Enlistment Act makes it illegal to “induce” Canadians to join another country’s military.
While the 1937 act was written to stop internationalist-minded leftist Canadians from fighting against Franco’s fascists in Spain, it is the successor to an 1870 British act that applied in Canada. That legislation was the outgrowth of rising nationalism in Europe (which later stoked Zionism). (more...)
It’s wrong to join foreign military — left and right should agree
Forced starvation is widespread in Gaza and the death toll is rising, caused by Israel withholding food at the border. Still, Canada maintains a free trade agreement with Israel, allows weapons exports, and has not imposed widespread sanctions.
On Sunday, July 20, Palestinian journalist Abubaker Abed posted:
“People are falling in the streets like tree leaves in the autumn. Children are bones and [skulls], weeping for food and water. Journalists report on starvation while tears filling their eyes. What more atrocities does this world have to see to act? This is the darkest time ever.”
Since then, the situation has only gotten worse. One third of the 2.1 million people in Gaza aren’t eating for days at a time, and 90,000 women and children need urgent malnutrition treatment, according to the World Food Program on July 23.
Starting on May 27, the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) displaced other aid agencies to become the main provider of food aid in Gaza. It has delivered inadequate aid and around 900 Palestinians have been killed trying to access food from GHF, many of them shot by GHF security or the Israeli military.
Other aid agencies and media outlets have put out statements this week saying their staff in Gaza are also facing starvation. Agence France-Presse (AFP) says its journalists will soon die if aid is not let in or they are not evacuated.
Canada and 24 other nations put out a statement on Monday, July 21, calling “on the Israeli government to immediately lift restrictions on the flow of aid and to urgently enable the UN and humanitarian NGOs to do their life-saving work safely and effectively.”
Canada issued another similar statement on X (formerly Twitter) on July 23 saying “Israeli military operations against WHO [World Health Organization] staff and facilities, World Food Programme aid convoys, & the ongoing killing of Palestinians seeking urgently needed food and water are unacceptable.”
However, Canada has not imposed any new measures to pressure the Israeli government to stop starving Gaza. (more...)
No New Action from Canada as Israel Starves Gaza
The country cited 'recurring episodes of violence' by Israel and 'shameless use of starvation as a weapon of war'
Brazil has said it is in the "final stages" of formally joining South Africa's genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The government announced its formal intervention on Wednesday, citing "massacres of civilians, most of them women and children, which have become commonplace during the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza".
In a statement, Brazil's foreign ministry expressed "deep indignation" at “recurring episodes of violence” perpetrated by Israel against Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, and the "shameless use of starvation as a weapon of war".
It said the international community "cannot remain inactive" in the face of "ongoing atrocities", and that the move is based on the “plausibility that the rights of Palestinians to protection against acts of genocide are being irreversibly impaired”.
“Brazil believes there is no longer room for moral ambiguity or political omission. Impunity undermines international legality and undermines the credibility of the multilateral system," the statement read. (more...)

Under pressure from Zionist groups, police across the West are repressing, sometimes violently, Palestinian solidarity activists and protesters.
More and more, however, Palestinian solidarity activists are fighting back in Courts of law -- and they're winning.
Dimitri Lascaris speaks with criminal defence lawyer Shane Martinez and law Professor Faisal Bhabha of the Legal Centre for Palestine about recent developments in Zionist 'lawfare'.
Dimitri also spoke with author and activist Yves Engler about a major development in the criminal harassment proceeding brought against him by Montreal police.

‘Active clubs’ that use martial arts to espouse far-right, fascist ideologies are proliferating in the US and abroad
More than a dozen men wearing black masks and sunglasses – obstructing any open source investigators from easily identifying them – appeared in a Telegram video in front of city hall in London, Canada, in June.
“Mass deportations now,” the men yelled in unison, holding up banners with the same slogan. “No blood for Israel.”
While this type of scene with masked men chanting is a relatively common occurrence in the US, this incident in Canada illustrated the underbelly of a surging global movement: neo-Nazi “active clubs”, American-born neofascist fight clubs, are rapidly spreading across borders.
London, a larger Canadian city in what is a rust belt in the province of Ontario, has had a long history with the Ku Klux Klan dating back to the 1920s and a racist murder of a Pakistani-Canadian family in 2021. But the arrival of an active club, which has also shown itself in other nearby towns and cities like Toronto (the country’s largest metropolitan area), is a relatively new development.
“Welcome to Hamilton, our city,” one Telegram post from the same Canadian active club wrote with its symbol posted on a sticker beside a sign for one of Ontario’s largest cities. “Folk-Family-Future!”
Around the world, Canada isn’t the only country being introduced to these clubs, which are fitness and mixed martial arts groups operating out of local gyms and parks that espouse neo-Nazi and fascist ideologies. Already proliferating across the US in a number of states, active clubs openly take their historical cues from the Third Reich’s obsession with machismo and their modern inspiration from European soccer hooliganism. German corporation successfully petitioned London, Ontario to name street after Nazi tycoon who used slave labor
London, Ontario, a city of over 420,000, is home to Max Brose Drive, named for German industrialist Max Brose.
Brose’s automotive factory manufactured arms for the Third Reich; Brose, a member of the Nazi Party, was recognized for his importance to Nazi Germany by receiving the title Wehrwirtschaftsführer (industry leader). His company, Brose Fahrzeugteile, was given slave labor, including from prisoners of war.
Today, Brose Fahrzeugteile is engaging in efforts to whitewash its founder. The history section of the company’s website insists Brose was an “entrepreneur with social responsibility,” whose slaves were “treated better than the average.”
Brose’s Nazi past came to the forefront during a 2022 scandal surrounding Julia Stoschek, billionaire art collector and Brose’s great-granddaughter. “While numerous German companies … have openly grappled with their involvement with the Nazi regime, the Stoschek family has been accused of sweeping its history under the rug,” noted The New York Times.
Indeed, in 2015, Germany’s main Jewish organization protested when the city of Coburg, home of Brose’s global headquarters, named a street for Brose. The street was named for him regardless. (more...)
After 3 years of sleuthing, John Klyczek has completed the final installment in his investigative series on the legacy of Barbara Marx Hubbard. In this article, Klyczek reveals how Hubbard’s Malthusian gospel of conscious transhuman evolution has been suffused with “sex magic” manipulated by cults entangled with PSYOPs and intelligence
The history of the New Age movement is riddled with stories of cults that have sexually abused initiates under the pretenses of actualizing human potential, attaining spiritual enlightenment, or evolving a higher consciousness. In many cases, these alleged sex cults have been reportedly entangled with intelligence agencies, such as the United States (US) Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Israeli Mossad. Consider the following three case studies:
Are these overlaps between New Age sex cults and intelligence agencies merely tenuous coincidences? Or do these patterns suggest the existence of underground networks of intelligence operatives who orchestrate or infiltrate New Age cults in order to experiment with Tantric sex rituals and other forms of “sex magic” as tools for psychological operations?
