Trump aims to create new UN and own it, Brazil’s Lula warns

Lula Brazil BRICS United Nations multilateralism Donald Trump empire tyranny

Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has criticized US President Donald Trump for attempting to create a new United Nations and be the sole owner of the international body.

“Instead of fixing” the United Nations, “what’s happening? President Trump is proposing to create a new UN where only he is the owner,” Lula said in a speech at an event on Friday.

Lula sounded the alarm about the new world order Trump is creating, warning that the international community is facing a “very critical” political moment in global dynamics, with multilateralism being forced out in favor of US unilateralism.

He warned that “the UN charter is being torn” to pieces by Trump.

Lula said Trump is replacing the UN charter with “the law of the jungle” in reference to his use of the US military to press Washington’s demands.  (more...)

The Rot Behind Rio's Police Massacre

military police Brazil Rio de Janeiro favela massacre poverty corruption Evangelicals prosperity gospel politics

On October 28, 2025, Rio de Janeiro’s military police massacred 121 people in the favelas of Penha and Alemão, on the city’s North Side. Marketed by the governor’s sophisticated PR department as an operation against the Comando Vermelho drug trafficking organization, none of the dead, which included 4 police officers, had any outstanding arrest warrants or were under investigation for any crime. Most of the victims were poor, Afro-Brazilians. The following is the transcript, edited for readability, of a one-hour interview I did about the massacre, with Oscar Fernandez from the Latino Media Collective, which aired on the Washington D.C. radio station WPFW 89.3 FM.  (more...)

New Data Exposes Countries Fueling Genocide in Gaza

COP30 Brazil global fuel shipments Gaza genocide Israel complicity

Today, at COP30, Oil Change International released a new report, Behind the Barrel: An Update on the Origins of Israel’s Fuel Supply, detailing the global fuel shipments that fuel Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

The report tracks over 21 million tonnes of crude oil and refined fuels delivered to Israel between November 2023 and October 2025, including jet fuel used for military aircrafts. The data shows that Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the United States were among the largest suppliers of oil and refined products during this period. While direct shipments from Brazil appeared to end in early 2024, evidence suggests that Brazilian crude may have continued reaching Israel indirectly via Italy’s Sarroch refinery in Sardinia.

Key findings:

  • Twenty-five countries delivered 323 shipments of crude oil and refined products to Israel, totaling 21.2 million tonnes.
  • Azerbaijan (via Turkey) and Kazakhstan (via Russia) supplied around 70% of crude oil.
  • Russia was the largest supplier of refined fuels, accounting for nearly half of total refined products.
  • The United States was the only supplier of JP-8 military jet fuel used by Israeli military aircrafts.
  • Other crude suppliers included Brazil, Gabon, and Nigeria.
  • Refined fuels also came from Greece. Italy, and Cyprus.  (more...)

Brazilian criminals trained in Ukraine bomb police with drones

Brazil Rio d Janeiro Red Command favelas drones military training Ukraine cartels organized crime drugs

Ukraine is becoming a training ground for criminals and terrorists from all over the world.

On October 28th, the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, experienced one of the most difficult moments in its recent history. Urban violence reached unprecedented levels, resulting in a major offensive by security forces against criminal groups. Although gang warfare in Brazil is not new, there is something extraordinary in the current scenario: now, Brazilian criminals are using drones to bomb enemy positions, employing military techniques learned by Brazilian mercenaries who fought for Ukraine against Russia.

The military campaign launched by the police in the last week of October was called "Operation Containment" and aimed to capture the main leaders of the Brazilian criminal faction "Comando Vermelho - CV" (Red Command) in the favelas "Complexo do Alemão" and "Complexo da Penha," located in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro. Upon noticing the approaching police, the criminals reacted with extreme violence, firing assault rifles, throwing grenades, and using drones to blast police vehicles. Subsequently, the criminals attempted to escape capture by crossing a forested area surrounding the favelas, but special forces were hidden in the area and were efficient in neutralizing the enemy.

More than one hundred deaths of criminals have already been confirmed, but the body count is far from over. Some rumors point out that nearly 200 drug traffickers have been eliminated. In addition, 80 bandits were arrested. There are no credible reports of civilian injuries during the hostilities. Four police officers died in the hostilities, including two special forces commandos. Considering that more than 2,500 police troops participated in the attack on the CV-controlled favelas, it is possible to say that the operation was a success from a military point of view.

However, even so, the intensity of the counterattack carried out by the CV militants impressed Brazilian police officers and military experts. Previously, the use of drones to launch grenades had only been reported once in Rio de Janeiro – used by a rival faction against CV in a confrontation for territorial control. This time, however, the traffickers used more sophisticated drones, capable of launching various explosives, and were successful in hitting police positions at a considerable distance. Similarly, drones were used to damage streets and impede car traffic – a common tactic of organized crime in Rio to generate urban chaos and pressure the police to retreat from the favelas.

This occurs amidst a well-known process of the return to Brazil of several mercenaries who enlisted to fight in Ukraine alongside Kiev's troops against Russian forces. Local experts immediately linked the scenes in Rio de Janeiro to the events in Ukraine. For example, Valmir Salaro, a Brazilian investigative reporter, stated:

"The retaliation from the criminals was immediate; they even used drones with bombs. We only saw this type of weapon, drones remotely controlled by criminals, in the war between Ukraine and Russia. This is extremely heavy weaponry. The criminals have many weapons; they obtain them easily, confronting the police, who don't have similar weaponry (...) The drone with a bomb, a drug trafficker from a favela location is there choosing (a target), because it has a camera attached, so he knows where he's going to drop the bomb. It's frightening; we hadn't seen this (in Brazil)," he said.

In the same vein, Igor Gielow, a Brazilian journalist who covered the conflict in Ukraine on the ground, commented on the case, stating:

"The use of drones in the reaction of the Comando Vermelho drug traffickers to the Rio police operation was the first major episode of its kind involving security forces in the state. It will not be the last. The use of small flying ‘robots’ follows the logic of the battlefields of the Ukrainian War, which in three years and eight months has changed the way close combat takes place (...) (The new military) reality soon transferred to crime. Drug cartels in Mexico make notorious use of drones. In Brazil, the first reports began to emerge last year, with evidence that drug trafficking was tactically ahead of the police."

To make matters worse, there is clear evidence that Brazilian criminals acquired this type of knowledge from pro-Ukrainian mercenaries. Moreover, Brazilian authorities claim that local factions are sending their members to Ukraine, where they train and gain real combat experience. Then, the criminals return and share their military knowledge, including drone handling techniques, with local gangs.  (more...)

Hiroshima and Gaza — Never Again!

Hiroshima Gaza Ukraine warmongering war crimes genocide racism ethnic cleansing oppression Gaza white supremacy whistleblowers atomic bomb Truman

President Trump’s approach to diplomacy has shocked the world. Just in the last several days, he has levied new, grave threats against Russia, Brazil, and now India—among others—in an apparently flailing attempt to squeeze a modicum of “success” out of his recent policy initiatives. While some will undoubtedly buckle to this kind of imperious pressure, as with the embarrassing case last week of EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the EU, an increasing majority in the world are resisting, including nuclear powers such as Russia and China. Threats and bullying of this sort can never win the peace, and at best, will only postpone conflicts into the future; but Trump’s most recent remarks with regard to Russia are unhinged enough to bring the world back to the brink of nuclear war.

Speaking on George Galloway’s MOATS show on Aug. 3, former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter noted that, when Trump mentioned he would be deploying two Ohio-class nuclear submarines “in the appropriate regions” in response to a tweet from Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, it can’t be ruled out that he’s preparing for a preemptive “decapitation” strike on Russia. Whether or not Trump intends this, Russia will absolutely have to take it into consideration as a real possibility. Even more so following the U.S.’ surprise attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, launched despite the fact that the U.S. was actively conducting peace talks with the Iranian government, and that Trump has now been whittling down the days to a supposed deadline for Russia to “make a deal” on Ukraine.

Ritter also claimed that it was an identical circumstance in the 1980s—with the deployment of medium-range Pershing II missiles to Germany, and American nuclear submarines stationed close enough to Russia to launch a lower-trajectory strike—that was the impetus for Russia to develop its “dead-hand” system in the case of an attempted decapitation attack. Trump is now recreating this situation again today.

However, it must be stated that, despite Trump’s erratic and naïve behavior, he is not the architect of this policy, but merely the fool implementing it. One must look to the likes of the U.K.’s Malcolm Chalmers, the former Deputy Director of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), and now Strategic Advisor to the Defense Secretary, who argued earlier this year that the U.K. should launch a tactical nuclear warhead on a Russian military base as a “demonstration strike” from a forward-deployed nuclear submarine. These types of British imperial actors are keen on creating the kind of environment that would pull Trump into their desired war with Russia, China, and the BRICS more generally, despite his earlier good intentions. If we are to steer this administration off its present course toward confrontation with a large part of the world, we must set our sights on the real enemy behind the proverbial curtain.

From this vantage point, the latest declassification by Sen. Chuck Grassley of one of the annexes of the report from Special Counsel John Durham is extremely significant. The new document reveals yet further details of the determination by those principal actors behind the fabrication of Russiagate to start a confrontation with Russia, even despite the “lack of direct evidence.” Shedding the personal passions and prejudices surrounding Trump, and identifying the actual intention on the part of those trying to control his administration, is the only way we can pull the world back from the brink of war and pave the way to a new security and development architecture that establishes a new basis for peaceful relations among the world’s community of nations.

On the anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we honor those that were lost and demand that nuclear war and genocide never be committed. There should never be a human life that is lost to senseless violence and hatred. We gather our forces for peace to unify for this cause. Join us this Friday with Scott Ritter, Ray McGovern, Anthony Aguilar, and others.

Brazil to formally join South Africa's ICJ case against Israel

The country cited 'recurring episodes of violence' by Israel and 'shameless use of starvation as a weapon of war'

Brazil has said it is in the "final stages" of formally joining South Africa's genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The government announced its formal intervention on Wednesday, citing "massacres of civilians, most of them women and children, which have become commonplace during the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza".

In a statement, Brazil's foreign ministry expressed "deep indignation" at “recurring episodes of violence” perpetrated by Israel against Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, and the "shameless use of starvation as a weapon of war".

It said the international community "cannot remain inactive" in the face of "ongoing atrocities", and that the move is based on the “plausibility that the rights of Palestinians to protection against acts of genocide are being irreversibly impaired”.

“Brazil believes there is no longer room for moral ambiguity or political omission. Impunity undermines international legality and undermines the credibility of the multilateral system," the statement read.  (more...)

Lula SHOCKS BRICS Summit: Calls Out Israel for Gaza Genocide | The Global South Rises!

At the historic BRICS Summit 2025 in Rio, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva broke global silence by calling Israel’s actions in Gaza a “genocide.” In front of leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, and UAE, Lula exposed the atrocities against Palestinians—starvation, targeted bombings, and the UN’s failure due to U.S. veto power. This wasn’t just diplomacy; it was a moral stand. Lula challenged Western dominance, pushed for UN reform, and called out the hypocrisy that shields injustice. His raw, fearless speech is igniting a wave of support for Gaza across the Global South.

This video tells the story of that powerful moment—and why it matters. BRICS isn’t just an economic bloc anymore—it’s becoming a global voice for justice.

CIA Cold War Experiments Shattered the Minds of Countless Unwitting Victims

In June 1956, Dr. Sidney Gottlieb, who headed the CIA mind-control experiments known as MK-ULTRA, authorized a sub-project involving the testing of LSD on prisoners at the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary.

The sub-project was headed by Dr. Carl Pfeiffer, the chairman of the department of pharmacology at Emory University, who carried out experiments that included the development of an “anti-interrogation drug” that could “produce alterations in the human central nervous system” which was to be “test[ed] on human volunteers.”

In a memorandum for the record, Gottlieb, then chief of the Technical Services Section (TSS) of the CIA’s Chemical Division, wrote that $49,299.12 set aside for the sub-project would “be transferred using the [redacted] as cutout in the usual manner.”

A cornerstone of the study was evaluation of the effects of large doses of LSD-25 in “normal human volunteers.” The CIA believed that LSD-25 had “the ability to counteract the inebriating effects of ethyl alcohol” and could perform other magic functions in interrogation it wanted to further explore.

One of the subjects of Pfeiffer’s experiments, the notorious gangster James “Whitey” Bulger, was given LSD every day for nearly 15 months without being told what it was.

In a notebook, he described having “nightly nightmares” and “horrible LSD experiences followed by thoughts of suicide and deep depression [that] would push me over the edge.”

Bulger further described Pfeiffer as a “modern-day Dr. Mengele,” writing that “I was in prison for committing a crime and feel they committed a worse crime on me.”  (more...)

Pariah State: Israeli Soldiers Face Arrests and Travel Bans Worldwide

On January 5, 2025, Yuval Vagdani, an Israeli army reservist, fled Brazil while on vacation after a federal judge in the country opened a war crimes investigation into Vagdani over his alleged involvement in demolishing homes in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Brazilian judge used a legal tool called “universal jurisdiction” to pursue Vagdani. Universal jurisdiction allows governments to prosecute individuals for serious crimes, regardless of where they’ve been committed. The case itself was the result of a complaint filed by the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), a Belgium-based legal group pursuing action against perpetrators, accomplices, and inciters of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Palestine. Since its establishment, the foundation has submitted more than 30 complaints against members of Israel’s military — from senior-level officials to lower-ranking personnel — around the world, as well as filing a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) against 1,000 Israeli soldiers (including dual nationals from France, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands) for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in Gaza.

HRF’s complaints are primarily based on information Israeli soldiers have posted on social media engaging in possible war crimes, such as the destruction and occupation of Palestinian civilian infrastructure and looting of personal belongings.

“Never before have we seen a national military organization like the IOF [Israel Occupation Forces] publishing their crimes,” HRF’s lead lawyer, Haroon Raza, told MintPress News. “They think they’re superior. The only way in which you can publish this stuff is when you think you’re right, because the other side is inferior as a people.”

But it’s not just HRF that’s motivated to hold Israeli soldiers accountable. An X account called “Israel Genocide Tracker” documents Israeli soldiers’ activities in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as where soldiers spend their vacations. Media uploaded to the platform shows Israeli soldiers detonating civilian properties, vandalizing homes, fooling around in abandoned hospitals, and even smiling and smoking next to a blindfolded Palestinian detainee.  (more...)

For Israel's criminal soldiers, 'nowhere to run, nowhere to hide'

Hind Rajab Foundation Gaza genocide justice HRF investigation Israeli soldiers war crimes prosecution arrest warrants Brazil pursuit

The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) is leading a global legal campaign against Israeli soldiers involved in war crimes, increasingly forcing these troops to avoid international travel or risk arrest - and denying Israel the legal impunity it desperately seeks.

On 4 January, Israeli reservist Yuval Vagdani and his friends had to abruptly end their “dream vacation” in Brazil and escape to neighboring Argentina under cover of darkness. The local Israeli embassy had been tipped off that the federal court in Brasilia was preparing an arrest warrant against Vagdani for war crimes committed during his tour of duty with the Givati Brigade in the north of Gaza.

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reportedly played a critical role in helping Vagdani escape prosecution, violating Brazilian sovereignty by arranging for him to be smuggled out of Morro de Sao Paulo in the state of Bahia, into Argentina, and from there to Miami before eventually landing back in Israel.

A few days before his late-night escape, Brazilian judicial authorities were presented with a 500-page report that collected Vagdani’s own social media posts as evidence of his crimes. In these, the Israeli reservist gleefully presents himself planting explosives and detonating entire residential buildings in the north of Gaza, where the Israeli army spent months killing tens of thousands of Palestinians and destroying nearly all civilian infrastructure.

Although his crimes were not committed in Brazil, which is a state signatory to international treaties such as the Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute, the country adhered to its legal responsibility to investigate and take the appropriate judicial action.

The Brazilian court case became a landmark in the global fight against impunity for Israeli soldiers and officials who are responsible for the world’s first-ever live-streamed genocide. Over recent months, dozens of similar complaints have been filed in many nations worldwide. From Sri Lanka to Thailand, from Sweden to Ecuador, individual Israeli soldiers find themselves in the bullseye of a global battle being waged inside national courts.  (more...)

Belgian Lebanese activist Dyab Abou Jahjah, the founder of the Hind Rajab Foundation, discusses how the organization seeks to hold Israeli soldiers accountable for war crimes committed in Gaza. Named after a 6-year-old girl who was killed by Israeli forces in Gaza almost a year ago, the Hind Rajab Foundation uses evidence gathered from soldiers' own social media to build cases against them. The group recently filed a complaint against a soldier in Brazil, leading a local judge to issue an arrest warrant for him that he only avoided by fleeing to Argentina. "Unfortunately, the Israeli government smuggled the soldier out of Brazil, which is, of course, obstructing justice," Abou Jahjah tells Democracy Now! "We are relentless in seeking justice, and we are very convinced that one day justice also will be served in a court of law."

Israel imposes sweeping restrictions to 'protect soldiers' from war crimes prosecution

Dozens of criminal complaints have been filed against Israeli soldiers by pro-Palestine groups in courts around the world

The Israeli army has issued fresh restrictions against media coverage of active-duty soldiers due to legal risks they face over war crimes in Gaza while traveling abroad, coming after a swarm of criminal complaints filed by pro-Palestine groups in courts worldwide.

The new rules stipulate that any media outlets interviewing soldiers with the rank of colonel will not be permitted to display their faces or full names, similar to the already existing rules for air force pilots and members of special forces units, Israeli army spokesman Nadav Shoshani told reporters on 8 January.

“This is our new guideline to protect our soldiers and to make sure they are safe from these types of incidents hosted by anti-Israel activists around the world,” he said.

He also said soldiers were not supposed to upload videos of themselves in warzones in the first place, “even though that’s never perfect and we have a large army.”

According to recent reports in Hebrew media, at least 50 criminal complaints in courts around the world have targeted Israeli soldiers for their role in Tel Aviv's ethnic cleansing campaign in Gaza.

Over the weekend, a Brazilian federal court ordered the police to open an immediate investigation into an Israeli soldier accused of committing war crimes in Gaza. The soldier was visiting Brazil for a vacation.

The soldier – who was seen in videos participating in the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza – arrived in Israel on Wednesday morning after fleeing Brazil with the help of the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv, the soldier told Channel 12 that he had learned from his error and would no longer upload videos from Gaza. “I won’t go back to Brazil again,” he added.  (more...)

An Israeli soldier facing war crimes charges related to the Gaza genocide has fled Brazil to avoid arrest, highlighting the growing possibility of international legal action against Israeli personnel involved in the war.

An Israeli soldier, who was under investigation in Brazil for alleged war crimes committed during the Gaza genocide, has reportedly fled the country to avoid arrest.

According to Israeli sources, the soldier, who had a warrant out for his arrest, managed to escape once he learned that Brazilian authorities were set to question him. The soldier’s family confirmed that they are in contact with him, though they have refused to disclose his current whereabouts, expressing hopes that he will soon return to Israel.

This incident follows a federal court ruling in Brazil ordering the investigation of the soldier, based on charges brought by the human rights organization, Hind Rajab. The organization accuses the soldier of participating in the destruction of entire civilian neighborhoods in Gaza as part of a systematic campaign aimed at creating inhumane living conditions for Palestinians.

The allegations also include accusations of genocide and crimes against humanity under international law. ‘Hind Rajab’ says to have gathered over 500 pages of evidence, including intelligence from open sources, to support these claims.  (more...)

A Brazilian court has ordered a probe into an Israeli settler who is a tourist in Brazil with photo and video proof of the man committing war crimes in Gaza.

A Brazilian court has directed police to investigate an Israeli soldier accused of committing war crimes in Gaza. The directive follows a complaint filed by the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), a human rights organization "devoted to breaking the cycle of Israeli impunity."

The HRF alleges that the suspect, currently in Brazil as a tourist, was involved in the demolition of civilian homes in Gaza as part of the Israeli occupation's genocidal campaign.

"This individual actively contributed to the destruction of homes and livelihoods," said HRF lawyer Maira Pinheiro, referencing video and photographic evidence purportedly linking the suspect to the crimes.

Victims' families have joined the case at the Federal Court of the Federal District, pushing for legal recourse against the suspect. The HRF has called for the suspect's immediate arrest, citing concerns about a potential flight risk and the possibility of evidence tampering.

The court invoked provisions of Brazil's Code of Criminal Procedure, emphasizing the need for urgent investigative measures. The decision represents a historic application of the Rome Statute by Brazil, underscoring the country's commitment to international justice.

"This is a historic moment," said Dyab Abou Jahjah, chair of the HRF. "It sets a powerful precedent for holding war criminals accountable."  (more...)

Elon Musk caves to Brazil’s Supreme Court

Elon Musk Twitter/X Brazil supreme court dispute manipulation regulation suspension fascism

Elon Musk has spent the past few months vocally defying the orders of Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, claiming they were a violation of his “free speech” values (even though he’d taken similar actions in India, Turkey, and other countries). Well, now Musk has gone silent on Brazil as his lawyers have told the country they’re ready to comply so the suspension of Twitter/X can be lifted.

Earlier this week, Brazilian media began reporting that Twitter/X’s lawyers said the company had banned the requested accounts and paid the fines levied against the company by the court. Soon after, media began reporting Twitter/X had appointed a legal representative in the country, which was ultimately the infraction that led to the platform’s suspension.

There’s no question this is a substantial loss of face for Musk, though it will likely have few tangible consequences beyond some Brazilian users not returning to his platform if the media doesn’t make him wear it and other countries don’t have the courage to crack down on him in the way Brazil did. No one — not Elon Musk or any other tech billionaire — should have, or even feel they have, the power to defy the will of a democratic government when they’re taking actions to protect their society from the harms created by major tech companies.  (more...)
