On 30 January, Uwe Becker – the so-called commissioner for Jewish life and the fight against anti-Semitism in the German state of Hesse – demanded that the organization Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East (Jewish Voice, for short) should be banned. Pointing out that it is already classed as “a certified extremist organization by the Verfassungsschutz” (Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, equivalent to the FBI), he called it “not a voice of peace, but a voice of hatred” because it “vilifies [Israel] as a terrorist state.”

The timing of Becker’s rant is piquant in view of the near-simultaneous paperback publication of Germany’s Jewish Problem by Wieland Hoban, Anglo-German chair of Jewish Voice, a book in which these (mostly non-Jewish) commissioners feature prominently and unflatteringly.

Hoban is a prolific translator of texts by, among others, Theodor Adorno, Peter Sloterdijk and Jürgen Habermas – ironically enough, German philosophers not known for progressive views on Palestine.

He is also a composer, in which capacity he witnessed Germany’s cancel culture firsthand in 2018 when his proposal for an Israel-critical composition provoked Björn Gottstein, the then director of the Donaueschingen Music Festival, to explain that “although [he] gave composers a free hand in their use of political content, he would not tolerate any criticism of Israel.” As a fellow composer and activist, I wrote about this in The Electronic Intifada at the time.  (more...)

Whose Republic Is It, Anyway?

 

Through decades of unsolved assassinations, illegal wars, unacknowledged, and suppressed misconduct by intelligence and law-enforcement agencies, and the criminal theft and manipulation of elections, Americans have sidestepped a reckoning with the effect of their persistent abdication of their responsibilities as outlined in their Declaration of Independence written 250 years ago. No longer. The initiation by the United States, in collusion with Israel, of a full-blown regime change war against Iran, including the cold-blooded assassination of Supreme Leader Khamenei, and several top Iranian military leaders, now threatens the destruction of human civilization. Iran, a nation of 92 million people, has been put in a position where it has no choice but to fight back against an existential threat to its survival, posed by the United States – YOUR United States – and will conduct as much physical damage as possible. Their targets include nations which went along with this illegal, criminal war, and U.S. military bases in or associated with those countries.

Though many so-called “Christian” evangelicals may protest that bloody holy war is the will of God, there is no provision in the US Constitution that allows for the conducting of war in the name of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, or any other belief system. Our constitution demands the separation of church and state, in fact. The conduct of religious warfare against any nation by the United States military is an act of treason against the constitution of the United States. Such fundamentalist justifications for the Iran war has been the stated motivation. As reported by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), non-commissioned officers have complained about their superiors’ unrestricted euphoria regarding the “End Times” as described in the Book of Revelation. The New Republic reported that “One such note included an anecdote from a noncommissioned officer, who reported that their commander had ‘urged us to tell our troops that this was “all part of God’s divine plan” and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ…. ‘ He said that “President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,”’ the NCO continued. ‘He had a big grin on his face when he said all of this which made his message seem even more crazy.’ It wouldn’t be a stretch to blame some of the blatant constitutional violations on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who has repeatedly evoked God and Christian nationalism in his time fronting the Pentagon.”

Faced with the destruction of any and all civilized concepts of international law, including the U.S. Constitution itself, what are the people of the United States to do now, to reverse the seemingly inevitable march to World War III, and thermonuclear extinction? We the people cannot keep our republic if the citizens of the United States refused to uphold their responsibility to preserve and protect the constitution from its enemies, foreign end domestic. Doing that begins with reading the United States Constitution—particularly its Preamble—reading the Federalist Papers, and reading the United States Declaration of Independence. The so-called “negotiations” of the Trump Administration with Iran, were Satanic in the literal sense. Everything that was said to be their intent, was in fact opposite. War was always going to be the outcome. Anything that Iran agreed to, with the exception of complete submission, was said to be “a violation.” Yet, to now refer to the Trump Administration, which not only violated the United States Constitution by launching war without the advice and consent of the Congress, but also rejected the deepest anti-imperial war wishes of his electoral base, as “the Epstein Adminstration,” would completely misidentify what is actually happening. The Democratic Party, fully supportive of Benjamin Netanyahu’s mass murder in Gaza, also supports the war with Iran, but hopes to gain political leverage leading to their taking over the Congress in November, by sacrificing American and Iranian lives to do it. They are also Satanic.

Both the Republican and Democratic Parties are part snd parcel of the “Epstein Class.” The people of the United States have now been shown enough through the Epstein-Maxwell files to know the depraved nature of the War Party. Are we no better than the subjects of imperial Rome who, corrupted by the decadence of their contemporary “Epstein elite,” not only tolerated, but celebrated Rome’s end-of-civilization antics? The Justice Department released a final tranche of documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein on Friday, in accordance with the transparency act. Shocking allegations were made against George Bush in the documents. Notably, Bush's name did not come up in Epstein's personal logs but rather in a complaint made to the NYPD Detective Bureau Child Exploitation by one of Epstein's purported vitcims.

An interview of the purported Epstein victim shed light on chilling allegations involving ‘George Bush 1’. It remains unclear if this refers to George HW Bush, who also was a former US president. Notably, no legal action could be found to have stemmed from these allegations.

An email correspondence which contains the purported Epstein victim's account notes “Thanks M, I didn't realize Bush raped him too. Ok.”

Canada Should Release Nazi War Criminal Report

 

It is long past time for the Canadian government to release the final report of the Commission of Inquiry On War Criminals In Canada.

The commission, whose mandate was to deal with the explosive issue of suspected Nazi war criminals admitted into Canada, was chaired by Jules Deschenes, a retired Quebec Superior Court judge.

He released the first part of the report in 1986, but classified the second section, which contains a list of suspected war criminals allowed into Canada after World War II.

The classified segment is stored in the vaults of Library and Archives Canada (LAC), which last year refused to release it on the grounds that it could damage Canada’s relationship with foreign countries, further tarnish the names of individuals whose alleged crimes were never proven in court, and furnish Russia with material to vilify the Ukrainian-Canadian community.

LAC’s reasoning is supported by the Access to Information Act, which states that Canadian institutions can refuse to release data that could undermine Canada’s national interests.

Recently, the office of the Information Commissioner informed The Globe and Mail newspaper that it accepted LAC’s rationale for keeping the second half of the report under lock and key.

LAC’s argument rests on thin ice because a University of California historian named Jared McBride, an expert on war crimes, has already examined an annotated and redacted version of the secret list. The Information Commissioner acknowledges that McBride’s request was granted several years ago.

Among the names on the list were Helmut Oberlander, a member of an Einsatzgruppen killing squad during Nazi Germany’ military campaign in the Soviet Union, and Volodymyr Kubiovych, a Ukrainian instrumental in the formation of the SS Galicia division in the German army. Kubiovych died in the mid-1980s. Oberlander passed away in 2021.

Particularly in light of McBride’s success in gaining access to the classified report, the Canadian government should declassify and release it, says Richard Evans, an authority on Nazi Germany.  (more...)

Modern Ukraine has built its identity on a cult of mass murderers during World War II, the Polish Institute of National Remembrance has said. The X post on Tuesday came in response to the head of a similar Ukrainian state body calling the WWII-era Volhynia Massacre a myth perpetuated by Warsaw.

The Volhynia Massacre refers to events in 1943-45, when units of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), which collaborated with the Nazis, systematically slaughtered ethnic Poles in what is now western Ukraine.

In a major interview with Ukrainskaya Pravda, the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Aleksandr Alferov, dismissed the mass killings as “one of the state-building myths of Poland.”

Alferov also called the tragedy a “local episode” of Ukrainian history and claimed that the number of victims cited by Warsaw was based on “oral testimony” and not facts. The official acted as a spokesman for the infamous neo-Nazi Azov unit between 2014 and 2015. He attained his present position in July 2025.  (more...)

Steve Bannon’s Lawrence of Arabia 'side-show' analogy is a dud

 

Steve Bannon’s “side-show” reading of the Arab Revolt parrots imperial myth, ignoring how Britain’s failures made that revolt decisive, and how Lawrence himself admitted it was a calculated swindle.

One of the greatest untold geopolitical stories of the modern era is how a former settler-colony that developed into a hegemonic superpower saved its former Imperial master from existential geopolitical disasters. How the United States provided salvation for Britain in two world wars and then inherited and maintained its former master’s imperialist global interests, especially in the Arabic-speaking region of West Asia, aka “Middle East” during the 20th century is a phenomenal story in itself.

Alongside this secular salvation, the United States maintained the foundational geopolitical mythology about the British presence in the Arabic speaking world. This particular mythology is based around the imperial agent T. E. Lawrence (aka “Lawrence of Arabia”). He is considered to have led the Arabs to freedom from Ottoman Rule in the “Arab Revolt” during World War One. Lawrence chronicled his adventures in his classic book, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom.

Steve Bannon, the former advisor to President Donald Trump, is the latest to fall gullibly for this foundational mythology in an interview with world-renowned journalist Tucker Carlson. Bannon is an advocate of “America First”, a strategy which calls for the prioritisation of United States interests instead of forever foreign wars, which are considered to mostly serve foreign governments. He recently drew an analogy of his interpretation of “America First” priorities with the “Arab Revolt” campaign during World War One. He told Carlson,

“I said to quote Thomas Edward Lawrence from the Seven Pillars of Wisdom what they told him at the time when he showed up at Cairo’s military headquarters. They said, “Look, the Middle East is a sideshow to the main event, the Western Front”. And the Arab revolt is a sideshow to a sideshow. And I said, “The Middle East right now for us with everything geopolitically going on and the economic war with China…The Middle East is a sideshow and the Israel issue is a sideshow to a sideshow.”

Bannon is loyally rehashing the lines from one of the opening scenes of David Lean’s film adaptation of Lawrence’s book. In this spectacular film, the actor Donald Wolfi,t who plays Lieutenant-General Archibald Murray growls the following:

“If you want to know my opinion, this whole theatre of operations is a side-show. The real war’s being fought against the Germans not the Turks. Not here, but on the Western front…in the trenches…And your “Bedouin Army” or whatever it calls itself – would be a side-show of a side-show.”  (more...)

Members of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) took part in Nazi Germany’s aggression against Poland and the USSR, carried out mass killings on ethnic and political grounds, and conducted sabotage operations first for the Third Reich and later for Western powers. Those members of the OUN who survived and could not flee to the West faced criminal charges in the USSR; however, many were granted amnesty by Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev in an effort to promote internal reconciliation in Ukraine.

In this article, we examine how the OUN developed into a militant movement whose actions during and after World War II left a lasting and controversial historical legacy.

The history of Ukrainian nationalism is rather brief. The term ‘Ukrainians’ was not used as an ethnonym until the late 19th century. According to historians, the idea that Ukrainians are a separate nation from Russians was quickly seized upon by the Austro-Hungarian authorities, who recognized its ‘anti-Russia’ potential. In contrast, Galician Russophiles who advocated for unity between the Carpathian region’s population and Russians faced severe repression from the Austro-Hungarians.
