Defence trade show bars outlets it suspects may produce critical coverage

CANSEC is a global defence and security trade show, and Canada’s largest defence convention. The event, held annually in Ottawa, brings together representatives of private defence companies and dozens of delegations from foreign governments to showcase “leading-edge technology, products and services for land-based, naval, aerospace and joint forces military units.” 

On the CANSEC homepage, the convention reports that attendees will also include 45 MPs, senators and cabinet ministers.The convention was founded in 1998, and is hosted by the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI). 

This week, Ricochet Media’s request for a press pass to cover the event was declined on the basis that our organization “does not meet the CADSI Eligibility Requirements.”

CANSEC’s media accreditation page states: “New media applicants are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and the accreditation decisions are final. CANSEC is a private event and organizers reserve the right to deny accreditation.”

Just hours after the portal for media accreditation opened, this reporter applied for status on assignment for Ricochet Media. After following up, we received the following response by email. 

“Thank you for registering for CANSEC 2026. We have reviewed your application and have declined it for the following reasons:

Your media organization does not meet the CADSI Eligibility Requirements.”

CADSI’s only eligibility criteria regarding media organizations is that applicants must be “a member of an established local, national or international media organization with relevant identification.”  (more...)

Canada’s largest arms fair has refused media accreditation for multiple independent journalists and media outlets, including The Maple.

The CANSEC trade show, hosted by the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) at Ottawa’s Cohere Centre this Wednesday and Thursday, is an annual event that attracts hundreds of arms companies and dozens of Canadian politicians as attendees.

Keynote speakers at this year’s event include Defence Minister David McGuinty and Industry Minister Mélanie Joly, as well as former United States president Joe Biden’s national security advisor, Jake Sullivan.

The organizers state that they work with the Canadian government “to engage a diverse global community” and list the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces as their “strategic partners.”

The Maple applied for media accreditation for this year’s CANSEC, but received an email from CADSI’s press team explaining that: “We have reviewed your application and have declined it for the following reasons [...] Your media organization does not meet the CADSI Eligibility Requirements.”

CADSI did not respond to questions from The Maple asking for details about its eligibility requirements and why it believes The Maple did not meet them. The Maple requested the decision to be reviewed, but heard nothing further from CADSI.  (more...)

US tech firm Cisco has deep ties with Israeli military, leaked documents show

 

Leaked documents have revealed the US tech firm Cisco Systems’ deep relationship with the Israeli regime in its continuous wars in West Asia, which the United States backs.

The papers leaked by Drop Site News on Friday reveal that Cisco has a deep illegal relationship with the Israeli regime and supported Tel Aviv forces in their atrocities against the people of Palestine, and beyond.

The Silicon Valley-based company, which produces hardware, software, telecommunications equipment, and other high-technology services used in networking, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, provided support and infrastructure to Israel in its genocidal war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and also ran unlawful operations in illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The leaked papers provided to Drop Site by whistleblowers show Cisco’s deep and growing collaboration with the Israeli military and intelligence communities for its genocide in Gaza and continued regional wars.

The San Jose-based networking giant, with a market capitalization in excess of $270 billion and annual revenue of $56.7 billion in 2025, manufactures the routers, switches, firewalls, and communications platforms that run the internet’s infrastructure, as well as many of its worldwide corporate, government, and military networks.  (more...)

US tech firm Cisco has deep ties with Israeli military, leaked documents show

Hackers have breached tank readers at US gas stations; officials suspect Iran is responsible

 

U.S. officials suspect Iranian hackers are behind a series of breaches of systems that monitor the amount of fuel in storage tanks serving gas stations in multiple states, according to multiple sources briefed on the activity.

CNN was the first to report the suspected hackings and Iran's possible involvement.

The hackers responsible have exploited automatic tank gauge (ATG) systems that were sitting online and unprotected by passwords, allowing them in some cases to tinker with display readings on the tanks but not the actual levels of fuel in them, the sources said.

The cyber intrusions are not known to have caused physical damage or harm, but the breaches have raised safety concerns because gaining access to an ATG could, in theory, allow a hacker to make a gas leak go undetected, according to private experts and U.S. officials.

The sources briefed on the investigation said Iran’s history of targeting the gas tank systems is one reason the country is a top suspect. But, the sources cautioned, the U.S. government may not be able to definitively determine who was responsible because of a lack of forensic evidence left by the hackers.

CNN has requested comment on the ATG hack from the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. The FBI declined to comment.  (more...)

The Handala hacker group announced it had breached communications belonging to a figure it described as a central architect of the Israeli normalization accords and an organizer of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reported March visit to the United Arab Emirates.

In a statement released Thursday alongside published images and documents, the group identified the individual as Samuel Shay, noting that he played a key role in behind-the-scenes coordination between the Israeli government and Gulf states.

Handala described Shay as the “mastermind behind Netanyahu’s UAE visit” and stated that it had exposed what it characterized as a covert regional political, economic, and “security” network.

The group asserted that Shay acted as a facilitator of relations between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi through business and strategic initiatives involving Gulf states and "Israel".  (more...)

Handala, the pro-resistance hacker group, has laid out, in rare detail, how it conducted a multi-year breach of the network security of Israel’s so-called Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), gaining long-term access to its classified information.

In a statement released Tuesday, the group said it had, for years, maintained full access to the notorious think tank’s restricted files.

According to Handala, the most significant breakthrough occurred on April 22, 2025, when “the doors of INSS became wide open,” and two hooded operatives walked into floor -2, the level where the institute stores its most sensitive material.

“This was not a one-time operation, but the result of years of planning which gave access to the most vital information in INSS,” the group stated.

“Does this prove Handala’s multi-year penetration of your security? Are your so-called secret meetings really secret? How do you justify and cover up our access to the movements of high-ranking Mossad and Shin Bet authorities?” Handala said.

A key revelation in Handala’s announcement concerns how the group recorded the institute’s closed-door meetings. For years, INSS reportedly held its top-secret sessions over Zoom, a platform the group claims it infiltrated with ease.

Tensions in the Middle East are taking a dangerous new turn as the Iran-linked hacker group Handala claims to have leaked sensitive data of 400 officers from the United States Navy deployed in the Persian Gulf.

In what they call “Operation Premature Death,” the group alleges it accessed and published names, ranks, and operational details of U.S. naval personnel—while also sending chilling warnings directly to officers that “the sea is no longer safe.”

But that’s not all.

The hackers also claim to have:

Cyber attack hit UAE's Fujairah Port 'minutes before' IRGC missile strike

 

The attacks follow continued US escalation and violations of the truce, including a blockade on Iranian ports and an attempt to break Tehran’s hold on the Strait of Hormuz

Iranian hacker group Handala announced in a statement late on 4 May that it launched a massive cyberattack on the UAE port of Fujairah in coordination with Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) missile strikes on the site.

“The strategic port of Fujairah in the UAE was hit by a sophisticated cyber operation and completely hacked. Now, thousands of classified documents – including contract details, ship traffic, financial transactions, and highly confidential maps of Fujairah’s oil pipelines and infrastructure, are available for public download on the Handala website,” the Iranian hacker group said on Monday evening. 

“These precise maps of oil lines and critical installations were delivered directly to the missile units of the Resistance Axis, leading to the accurate and pinpoint targeting of key objectives in the port … Just minutes after this breach, IRGC missile units, in full coordination with Handala, targeted the Port of Fujairah with precise missile strikes,” the statement added. 

“The message is clear: no covert or overt collaboration between the UAE, the Zionist regime, and the US escapes our attention, and every act of betrayal will be answered,” Handala stressed, adding that “over 430,000 confidential documents have been dumped from the port’s servers and are now in Handala’s possession, with our cyberattacks still ongoing.”

“UAE, this is your final warning: If you continue your betrayal and malicious acts against the Axis of Resistance, be prepared for even harsher cyber, intelligence, and military blows. Your collaboration with Israel and the US will not save you from your inevitable fate.”

Handala also said that day that it leaked the names of 400 senior US Navy officers currently deployed in the Persian Gulf. 

Shortly before the group's announcement on the hacking operation, missile and drone attacks targeted the UAE, causing a fire in the Fujairah oil zone. One strike targeted a vessel belonging to the Emirati state oil firm ADNOC.  (more...)

Keeping Our Republic and Our Souls

 

The appearance by his satanic Majesty King Charles, in front of the Congress (only the second appearance by a British monarch in history, the first of which was his mother, Elizabeth) was a new ratchet down for the United States. Even more scandalous than his treatment by the president, was the obsequious difference shown to him by the Congress. The fright of the “No Kings”protests of weeks ago could not have been more lured. It is necessary in these nine weeks leading up to July 4, for those that both understand and endorse that message, to appropriate the national holiday, and to catalyze national celebrations to call the American people to order in the service of those principles. America’s descent into war and other suicidal adventures, mostly conducted on behalf of the British Empire, can only be arrested by a return to the principles expressed in the Declaration of Independence. Those principles are reflected both in the Ten Principles For a New Security and Development Architecture of Helga Zepp-LaRouche, and the words and deeds of Pope Leo XIV.

Peter Mandelson: the untold Israel connection

 

After new, public revelations that Labour Party grandee Peter Mandelson failed security vetting but was appointed ambassador to the United States anyway, figures across the political spectrum are calling for the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

But as the debate surrounding who knew what and when about Jeffrey Epstein’s “best pal” continues, many in the mainstream media have failed to interrogate Mandelson’s links to the pro-Israel lobby.

The initial tranche of the Epstein files have already caused a political earthquake within the British establishment. For many years, the media and political class have willfully ignored the relationship between the convicted pedophile and Mandelson.

But photographs of the man who revelled in the nickname, the “Prince of Darkness,” standing in his underpants may have proven to be the straw that broke the back of Starmer’s Labour government.

Mandelson’s long-time protégé and Israel lobby favorite Morgan McSweeney has already resigned in disgrace after insisting on his mentor’s appointment as US ambassador last year, even in the face of British security service warnings.

And the Mandelson scandal only seems to escalate. In February, he was spectacularly – yet briefly – arrested by police on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The same month, Andrew Mountbatten-Windor, the former prince and another Epstein accomplice, was also arrested and is being investigated for the same reason, after emails in the latest Epstein releases suggested that both men handed over sensitive government information to the convicted pedophile and likely Mossad intelligence asset.

The US and Israel launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on February 28, killing over 3,300 Iranians.

On March 19, Kash Patel stood at a Justice Department podium and delivered the kind of line that plays perfectly on cable news. “We took down four of their operation’s pillars and we’re not done,” the FBI director said after the government seized domains linked to Handala, an Iran-linked hacking group. It was the usual show of force — chest out, enemy named, victory declared.

Eight days later, Handala hacked Patel’s personal Gmail and dumped what it said were years of emails and personal photos online. Among the images was a mirror selfie of Patel holding a large bottle of rum. At the time, the picture looked like a humiliating punchline. The man who had just bragged about crippling Iran’s hackers had his inbox raided by the same crew. Washington got its irony hit, the internet got its meme, and the story moved on.

That was March. The laughter came easily because the image looked random.

Yesterday, The Atlantic made that photo land differently.

The magazine reports that more than two dozen current and former officials, aides, hospitality workers, lobbyists, and others described Patel’s tenure as erratic, alcohol-soaked, and alarming enough that senior administration figures are already discussing possible replacements. The article says meetings and briefings were pushed later because of Patel’s late-night drinking, that his security detail at one point requested breaching equipment after he was unreachable behind locked doors, and that on April 10 he panicked over a technical login problem, concluded he had been fired, and triggered calls across the FBI, Congress, and the White House asking who was in charge.  (more...)
