Alexander Rahr, the President of the Eurasia Society in Berlin, who has a long history of experience in working to improve relations between Germany and Russia, expressed deep concern over the report of a possible British-French initiative to provide nuclear weapons to Ukraine.  He decried such talk as dangerous, but not surprising, given the role the British have played in organizing Europe to keep the war against Russia going.  Given the Russophobia of the northern Europeans -- by which he specified nations of Scandinavia and the Baltics, Britain and France -- he said he believes the only hope of ending the war rests with the U.S. President.  Donald Trump will prevail, he said, but he faces opposition in the U.S. from the Democrats and the "Deep State", in addition to that from Europe.  As for the Republicans, he said those who want Trump to succeed in achieving peace in Europe want him to split the alliance between Russia and China, and get Russia to join with the U.S. to face the challenge of China.

He also had interesting comments about what he described as the "weakness" of the Russian army and strategic errors in the war against Ukraine.

 He said he watched the "European problem" dominate the last several years of the Munich Security Conference (MSC).  He singled out the failure of Europe's leaders to recognize the emerging "multipolar world" as their problem.  The MSC focus was narrowly on Europe, with no attention given to the BRICS, which is a new element.  He expressed disappointment in the youth in Germany, who act as though nuclear weapons are an issue for older people who live in the past.

In addition to chairing the Eurasia Society in Berlin, Rahr serves as a board member of the Petersburg Dialogue, is a member of the Valdai Club and a former senior adviser to Gazprom.

Why did this motley crew of millionaires, cultural degenerates, and intelligence assets perceive Lyndon LaRouche to be such a threat?

The release of the documents related to Jeffrey Epstein’s sordid and disgraceful practices cannot be understood without going to the source of his deployment: the City of London. Consider the actual arrangements of his acquaintance with British socialite and Oxford graduate Ghislaine Maxwell, facilitated through British arms dealer Douglas Leese, who had “mentored” Epstein and eased him into establishment circles, including the infamous Bullingdon Club.

There are many British connections which have been highlighted in the recent weeks in the aftermath of the e-mails being released, including former UK Ambassador to the U.S. Peter Mandelson, former Prince Andrew (now Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor), and of course, the Maxwell Family. Rep. Ro Khanna, who, along with Rep. Thomas Massie, has been at the forefront of the fight to end the cover-up of the files by the Department of Justice, stated that the revelations are “a window into [a] window into the elite impunity of this club. And, by the way, I think this is the most vulnerable the British monarchy has ever been.”

“I mean, I heard they were asking the queen questions about the Epstein class. They ought to ask the king and queen questions, and maybe this will be the end of the monarchy…. If they’re implicated with the Epstein class, not a good look for the British monarchy.”

Perhaps there is no ‘Epstein Affair,’ as pundits and media analysts continuously pontificate about. However, it is clear that there is a Maxwell Affair, which is being hidden from the general public, most importantly citizens of the United States, to once and for all destroy the republican system of self-government which was founded 250 years ago on these shores, along with the idea that all men and women are entitled to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,” and, “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Jeffrey Epstein, recruited for his so-called “genius” in the practice of illegal money laundering, was deployed from Great Britain for one purpose: to destroy the U.S. Republic as a productive nation committed to the general welfare of all, through physical-goods production based on scientific and technological progress. It is the British imperial system, based on the belief that men are no more than beasts, which is the greatest enemy of all mankind, and must be defeated today.

In today’s EIR Report, Harley Schlanger interviews veteran radio and TV political analyst Garland Nixon on developments following the annual Davos summit, including the increasingly brutal ICE operations in Minnesota, the shift away from the Trump Administration’s “no new wars” stance to neocon-backed interventions in Venezuela and Iran, and the role of British imperial strategy in shaping U.S. foreign policy—using NATO, financial power, and proxy conflicts to prevent Eurasian economic integration and weaken Russia and China. 

Nixon pointed out that the expanded ICE deployments have drawn major political backlash from within the U.S., including some pro-gun Trump supporters who have highlighted that Alex Pretti was following the law with respect to carrying a concealed firearm. ICE agents have increasingly used intimidation, physical force, and violence against civilians, including U.S. citizens. Nixon, a former law enforcement official, points out that some of the federal agents have received training directly from the Israel Defense Forces, turning counterterror and foreign-war tactics against their own fellow Americans. 

Many Americans now see that this is no longer about “combatting illegal immigration,” but empowering a post-9/11 surveillance apparatus—run by Palantir CEO Alex Karp, Peter Thiel, and others—to be used to suppress political dissent and protest at home. This has also been applied to social media platforms, like X and TikTok, to censor any kind of discussion criticizing the government for its policies in Gaza, Ukraine, and other nations. Younger Americans, including those from Jewish communities, have increasingly turned against U.S. support for the  Israeli government’s militarist Zionist ideology. The issue is much deeper though, as both Schlanger and Nixon get into, which is the role of British imperialism in creating destructive ideologies like Zionism to maintain a geopolitical stranglehold on the world. The intervention from Bush-RINOS and neocons in the Trump Administration to provoke a war in Iran, for example, is being done with the intent to weaken Russia and China. 

All of this relates to the collapsing global financial system, which the swindlers are desperate to save. Increased military spending in the U.S., AI investment, repeated bailouts, and more endless wars are the present measures being taken to sustain the failing speculative economy. This will not work, however, as reality cannot be defied. A very dangerous moment presents itself, but at the same an opportunity exists for citizens to expose the underlying structures of financial power and oligarchism at its core, and present a new alternative based on cooperation, mutual benefit, and economic development.

Words, words, words -- some truthful, but most not.  It is not a sign of genius to recognize that the globalized economy has "ruptured", at least for the so-called advanced countries.  But who will tell them that they have no viable alternative despite the "academic credentials" of western leaders?  They have failed, decisively, and none of them stepped forward with an alternative.  There is an alternative development architecture emerging, around the BRICS, China's Belt-and-Road Initiative, based on LaRouche's advances on the American System -- which the City of London-directed forces wish to crush.  Implement a new Glass Steagall bill to take power away from the speculative swindlers of Davos and their system of financialization!

Crush the Davos Crazies! For Humans, There Are No Limits to Growth!

 

The intellectual fraud presented at the billionaires’ summit in Davos, Switzerland poses a burning question: Where were the adults? While Donald Trump’s speech portending a U.S. takeover of Greenland for reasons of “national security,” and “securing American dominance” through a Golden Dome project, took media center stage, the weirdest—and most acclaimed—bloviation was delivered by the Bank of England, through the mouth of its favorite circus clown, Mark “The Barker” Carney.

Trump’s fantasy “Golden Dome” was usefully demolished by leading nuclear weapons expert Dr. Ted Postol, Professor Emeritus of Science, Technology, and National Security Policy at MIT. At the 138th meeting of the International Peace Coalition, Postol demonstrated, with a series of charts and graphics, that at least 1,200 satellites would be required to track and neutralize one ICBM missile, fired from anywhere in the world. This means that if one wishes to knock out 100 missiles simultaneously—a far more realistic scenario—it would require 120,000 satellites to be built!

This makes Trump’s Golden Dome project a physical impossibility. Russia’s new nuclear capabilities, implied by its deployment of the hypersonic Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile, or its Poseidon unmanned underwater drone, far exceed any of the nuclear capabilities of the West. “Golden Dome,” however, rather than being “defensive,” may be a cover for continuing a move toward the placement of offensive thermonuclear capabilities, including in space, leading to a new arms race. That path will likely be the shortest to thermonuclear disaster.

Davos’ signature psychedelic moment, however, was Mark Carney, who called for “more open dialogue” within a non-existent “international rules-based order” which he admits was a fraud from the beginning! Many people, though not everyone, have been bamboozled by the Bank of England’s Trotsky impersonator. Carney, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in August of 2019, called for a “bankers spring” — financial regime change by the global central bankers, to replace sovereign credit with an international synthetic currency to replace the dollar. Carney, the former head of the Bank of England, the financial vulture who champions a Malthusian “Green New Deal” designed to shackle energy-poor nations, use their resources, and depopulate them, received a standing ovation from the filthy rich at Davos, as he quoted Václav Havel about “the power of the powerless.”

The Davos crazies must be crushed. Lyndon LaRouche’s Four Economic Laws—return to Franklin Roosevelt’s Glass-Steagall, separating speculative from human banking, saving homes, pensions and jobs; the creation of national banks that issue credit for productive investment to build independent, full-set national economies; and crash science-driver programs for energy-intensive new frontier technologies, such as thermonuclear fusion, are what needs to be implemented as the alternative. Actions by independent candidacies in the United States that stand up for these policies—for what American patriot Tom Paine called “Common Sense”—are exactly what the world, as well as the American people, want to hear in this 250th year of the United States of America’s birth.

Mark Carney’s Davos speech exposes Western hypocrisy and the failures of the so-called rules-based order, while ignoring Canada’s role in global injustices from Gaza to Venezuela.

After seeing the full text of Canadian PM Mark Carney’s hypocritical speech at Davos, one might despair at the lack of understanding in many responses. Carney performed as if he were the next great challenger to US imperialism. If there weren’t so many lives and futures at stake, it would have been laughable.

But first, let's unpack Carney’s statements. 

His much-touted Davos speech was newsworthy in only one respect: his admission that the so-called international “rules-based order” is a complete fraud, and that Western powers have knowingly upheld it.

“We knew the story of the international rules-based order was partially false, that the strongest would exempt themselves when convenient, that trade rules were enforced asymmetrically, and we knew that international law applied with varied rigour, depending on the identity of the accused or the victim.”

Although he refers repeatedly to the communal “we”, he did not acknowledge that his own government was one of the most complicit in that, nor did he accept any responsibility for Canada’s role in the genocide in Gaza. So, we take his newfound and convenient commitment to challenge the US-led imperial hegemony with a grain of salt.

It’s easy to sit in judgement of the U.S., but Canada has enabled, and even profited from, the rise of American fascism.

What role is Canada playing in the United States’ fascist turn?

The Department of Homeland Security rounds up hundreds of migrants a day, throwing them in cages operated by the Canadian security firm GardaWorld.

As ICE agents sow terror in cities across the U.S., the Ontario manufacturer Roshel supplies them with armoured vehicles to facilitate their work. 

While ICE saw its budget balloon to $75 billion last year, the Montreal-based CGI Inc. helped the agency manage its sprawling technology needs from offices in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.

And just days after the U.S. military abducted a sovereign head of state, Canadian politicians boasted about the coup creating opportunities for Alberta oil in Asian markets.

Everywhere you see American imperialism ruining lives, you’ll find unscrupulous Canadians cashing in. Academics describe scientific research as ‘a central engine of economic growth’ for Israel, cautioning that weakening universities could jeopardize long-term economic recovery

The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities warned in its annual report, covered by Haaretz on 4 January, that sustained government cuts to academic research funding, combined with the global backlash of the genocide in Gaza, risk having “far-reaching consequences” for Israel's science sector.

The Academy report notes that the world’s boycott of Israeli academia in response to Tel Aviv's war crimes in Gaza has shaken “the foundations of scientific cooperation” and undermined the ability of young researchers to establish themselves.

The report also states that public investment in research and development at Israeli universities has been steadily shrinking for over a decade, even as most OECD countries have increased spending.

Over the 2014–2023 period, spending on academic research in Israel dropped by roughly four percent, while the OECD spending average rose by nearly 20 percent.

This decline has pushed Israeli researchers, particularly early-career academics, to rely heavily on foreign grants, as the academy notes that around 93 percent of Israel’s R&D spending is directed to the business sector, leaving just about 5.5 percent for academia – one of the lowest ratios in the OECD.

Chrystia Freeland, descendant of a documented Nazi collaborator, has confirmed she took an “unpaid” economic adviser role in Kiev

Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev has suggested Chrystia Freeland, former Canadian deputy prime minister and the new economic adviser to Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky, accepted the post to control Western aid flowing to Kiev amid its conflict with Moscow.

Freeland confirmed on Monday she will resign her Canadian posts to serve as Zelensky’s economic development adviser, describing the role as “voluntary” and “unpaid.” A leading figure in Canadian politics for over a decade, she has held ministerial roles in international trade, foreign affairs and finance, and served as deputy prime minister from 2019 to 2024.

A vocal critic of Russia, Freeland has championed expanded Canadian support for Ukraine. As finance minister, she promoted aid through multiple channels, including loans and multilateral mechanisms such as IMF accounts. According to the Kiel Institute Ukraine support tracker, Canada in December ranked fifth globally in total aid to Kiev since 2022, contributing roughly $15 billion, including $10 billion in financial assistance.

The U.N. special rapporteur is one of the most courageous crusaders against the genocide in Gaza. Because of this, she is blacklisted and treated as if she is a terrorist.

It is a late November afternoon. I am driving to Genoa, Italy with Francesca Albanese, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. We are traveling to join striking dockworkers. The dockworkers call for a moratorium on weapons bound for Israel and a halt to the Italian government’s plans to increase military spending.

We speed past the inky waters of Baie des Anges on our right and the razor-backed French Alps on our left. Châteaus and clusters of houses with red-tiled roofs, shrouded in the fading light, are perched on the rolling hillsides. Palm trees line the seafront road.

Francesca — tall with flecks of gray in her hair and wearing large black-framed glasses and hoop earrings — is the bête noire of Israel and the United States. She was placed on the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) list of the U.S. Treasury Department — normally used to sanction those accused of money laundering or being involved with terrorist organizations — six days after the release of her report, “From economy of occupation to economy of genocide.”

The OFAC list — weaponized by the Trump administration to persecute Francesca and in clear violation of the diplomatic immunity granted to U.N. officials — prohibits any financial institution from having someone on the list as a client. A bank that permits someone on the OFAC list to engage in financial transactions is banned from operating in dollars, faces multimillion-dollar fines and is blocked from international payment systems.

In her report, Francesca lists 48 corporations and institutions, including Palantir Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Alphabet Inc., Amazon, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), Caterpillar Inc., Microsoft Corporation and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), along with banks and financial firms such as BlackRock, insurers, real estate firms and charities, which in violation of international law, are making billions from the occupation and the genocide of Palestinians.  (more...)
