An Engineer Was Fired After Speaking Out for Palestine. Now He’s Suing His Former Employer

Canada Toronto NTN manufacturing engineer Palestine discrimination wrongful dismissal lawsuit

Palestinian-Canadian Amjad Ramadan is seeking nearly $400,000 in damages after he was abruptly terminated by NTN Canada, the manufacturing company he’d worked at for 15 years. He was fired soon after a video clip circulated online of him protesting outside an Indigo bookstore

A 52-year-old father of five in Brampton is suing his former employer for wrongful dismissal and violation of the Ontario Human Rights Code, alleging that the company discriminated against him on the basis of his expression of Palestinian identity and solidarity.

On Jan. 15, Amjad Ramadan, a Canadian citizen of Palestinian origin, launched a lawsuit against NTN Bearing Corporation of Canada, an Ontario-based manufacturer of ball bearings and other automotive parts.

In a detailed statement of claim viewed by The Grind, Ramadan says that he was treated in a “discriminatory and humiliating manner” by his employer in response to his efforts to raise awareness about the humanitarian situation in Gaza during Israel’s retaliation to the Oct. 7 attacks. This began in fall 2023 and culminated in early 2025 when NTN fired Ramadan following an online pressure campaign.

“This has been the worst year of my life,” Ramadan told The Grind in a video call.

“What they did to me has had a great impact on my mental health, on my physical health and on my reputation. It has done irreparable damage to my reputation, and has affected my family and my loved ones around me. It turned my life upside down.”  (more...)

As TikTok falls into Zionist hands, UpScrolled fills the vacuum to give voice to Palestine

Tik Tok Trump Ellison Netanyahu UpScrolled technology internet censorship free speech Palestine

The genocide in Gaza, raging since October 2023, has been a brutal war against an occupied population, resulting in over 70,000 fatalities. The Lancet and, more recently, the UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories suggest the real toll is far higher.

Francesca Albanese recently asserted that the actual death toll from the Israeli genocidal offensive on Gaza could be as high as 680,000, most of them women and children.

We have all witnessed the unimaginable destruction inflicted upon Gaza’s institutions of learning, healthcare, and worship throughout these more than two years. It has not only been a physical assault but also a war against truth and justice, revealing the true nature of the Israeli regime as a warmonger, as its propaganda – its hasbara – lies in tatters.

Yet, one critical lesson from the global struggle against anti-Palestinian hate and injustice is that oppressors, once defeated, do not simply surrender. They fight back fiercely, while those who advocate for justice often return to their everyday lives, trying to navigate an inherently abnormal world.

Take the case of TikTok, which gained significant recognition for amplifying factual perspectives about Israel and its ruthless military – widely regarded as one of the most immoral armies in the world – and their killings of Palestinian women and children, which has been widely recognized as genocide.

So, how did authorities in the US respond to TikTok? They launched a campaign against the platform, claiming, among other things, that it posed a security risk – fearing that China could access user data or manipulate the algorithm.

US President Donald Trump acknowledged TikTok’s value during his recent electoral campaigns, and through vile threats, propaganda, and legal measures, he sought to seize the platform to serve his political agenda and that of the Israeli regime.

Then, in September 2025, evidence emerged confirming these suspicions. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was secretly recorded boasting to a group of influencers at Israel’s Consulate General in New York that TikTok was “the most important purchase going on right now.” He also described X (formerly Twitter) as key “weapons” in Israel’s arsenal.  (more...)

Many users including myself have discovered that not only is X shadow banning users for mentioning Israel, Epstein, or engaging in anti-imperialist rhetoric, but they're also allowing other accounts to lie and post false information without penalty according to a comprehensive analysis by Grok. With the censorship on X and the new Zionist crackdown on tiktok, many users are leaving both platforms in droves and moving to Upscrolled.

A warning about civil liberties on Canadian university campuses

Canada education Palestine solidarity repression Zionists arrests intimidation brutality censorship

Increasing repression against pro-Palestine students is happening now—we must stop it

Canadian universities are rapidly becoming sites of repression rather than debate. Across the country, students protesting Israel’s assault on Gaza are facing suspensions, bans, police violence, and sweeping restrictions on speech and assembly—often imposed before any investigation has taken place. What is unfolding on campuses is not a series of isolated incidents, but a coordinated erosion of civil liberties that demands immediate public attention.

These patterns are readily visible in how universities have responded to pro-Palestinian students and organizers. McMaster University suspended a student group, Students for Palestinian Human Rights, for disrupting a board meeting, then banned three students from campus activities prior to their investigation concerning a pro-Palestine protest. At the University of British Columbia, the RCMP and campus security guards destroyed a sukkah erected by pro-Palestinian Jewish students, who sat praying in the rain.

This climate has also resulted in physical violence against students. At York University, one student was violently assaulted by a member of an extremist Zionist vigilante group. At two events involving Toronto Metropolitan University students, security guards used physical violence against protesters. In another, students were assaulted by an Israeli soldier who was hosted by a student group off-campus. This incident was followed by police arrests of five of the assaulted students.

This backlash has unfolded quietly but persistently. A recent article in Briarpatch surveyed protest policies at 17 universities with pro-Palestinian encampments. It found that nearly all campuses “either introduced or reinforced restrictions on the type or location of campus protests.” Many policies were so vague as to make these restrictions completely arbitrary. Other examples include Western University, which tried to implement a “no demo without permission” policy that was repealed. At the University of Toronto, “affixing signs, posters, or flyers (including the use of chalk, marker, paint, and projections) outside designated areas” has been designated as a form of vandalism. Most recently, faculty and students at Carleton University have been vigorously opposing an “Institutional Impartiality Policy” that bans departments and student groups from making public statements on political or social issues.  (more...)

It’s 2026: Where Is The American Presidency?

America independence constitution British Empire colonialism federalist republic good neighbors history Glass-Steagall freedom

The year 2026 has opened with a literal bang. The U.S. military, under President Trump’s orders, attacked the sovereign nation of Venezuela and captured its democratically elected President, Nicholas Maduro, along with his wife, flying them out of the country.

Statements from Russia, Brazil, and Mexico have already been issued, condemning the attack and insisting that further escalation be prevented. They recommended focusing on a way out of the situation through dialogue. Brazilian President Lula said the attack “crosses the line of what is unacceptable. These acts represent a very serious affront to Venezuela's sovereignty and set another extremely dangerous precedent for the international community.”

”Attacking countries in flagrant violation of international law,” he continued “is the first step toward a world of violence, chaos, and instability, where the law of the strongest prevails over multilateralism.”

This illegal attack follows the just-thwarted attempt by Ukraine, or NATO forces acting in the form of Ukraine, to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin at his residence on the evening of Dec. 29th. The situation has been further compounded by the New Year’s Eve drone attack on a Russian cafe in Kherson, in which at least 28 civilians were killed, and many more wounded. British intelligence agencies, who want nothing more than to derail the nascent attempt at diplomacy underway by the Trump Administration with Russia, are pumping the narrative that President Putin lied about the attack to justify Russia’s war on Ukraine—a ridiculous falsehood on the face of it.

Add to this the mad attempt to install advanced tactical nuclear weapon systems in Germany and Europe, in preparation for "defense" in a future war with Russia, and you have the short term makings for a thermonuclear World War III. As the world descends into the law of the jungle, the ever-clearer reality of the disintegration of the trans-Atlantic financial system, now being pumped with worthless cryptocurrencies and speculative investments in artificial intelligence (AI), is causing these warmongers to become desperate and resort to insane tactics – like kidnapping presidents to dismantle nations – in order to keep the system afloat.

The outlook of Helga Zepp-LaRouche, demands that 2026 must become the year where nations seize upon her idea of a new security and development architecture for the world, overcoming 500 years of colonialism, and reorganizing the bankrupt financial system through a Global Glass-Steagall bill. The American presidency must adopt the ideas of not Teddy Roosevelt, but Franklin Roosevelt, including Glass-Steagall, the Four Freedoms, and the Good Neighbor Policy FDR’s solutions, and the Ten Principles represent the ideas which American citizens can take to the streets and organize with now.

Within days of the massacre on Sydney's Bondi Beach, Australian politicians declared their intention to ban the phrase "globalize the intifada" and place new restrictions on pro-Palestine protests.

In addition, British police arrested two protesters for using the word "intifada" at a demonstration in London.

Zionists in the Canadian media did not hesitate to follow the lead of Australian and British authorities. Canada's largest newspapers and most prominent zionist 'journalists' joined the call for criminalizing the phrase "globalize the initifada".

In his latest Rant of the Week, Dimitri Lascaris dissects the logic behind the latest wave of anti-Palestinian censorship and declares that no Zionist has the right to dictate what language we employ to oppose Israel's genocidal regime.

White House launches webpage to denounce journalists, news outlets

journalists media press news narrative control criminalization repression Donald Trump thought crime

The White House has introduced a government-run webpage that publicly names, ranks, and denounces journalists and news organizations it accuses of biased reporting, escalating President Trump's long-running attacks on the media.

The White House has introduced a new feature on its official website that compiles and publicly denounces news organizations and reporters it claims have misrepresented events or presidential statements, marking a sharp escalation in the administration's confrontational approach toward the press.

The newly launched section opens with the headline "Misleading. Biased. Exposed." and identifies several outlets as "media offenders of the week", including the Boston Globe, CBS News, and The Independent. The accusations focus on their reporting of President Trump's response to a video released by six Democratic lawmakers urging military personnel not to follow unlawful commands.

The controversy intensified after Trump took to social media, accusing the lawmakers of "seditious behavior, punishable by death" and sharing a post containing the phrase "hang them."

According to the White House webpage, "The Democrats and Fake News Media subversively implied that President Trump had issued illegal orders to service members. Every order President Trump has issued has been lawful. It is dangerous for sitting Members of Congress to incite insubordination in the United States’ military, and President Trump called for them to be held accountable."  (more...)

Gaza Tribunal’s Final Verdict Declares Israel’s Actions Genocide, Calls for Global Action

Gaza Tribunal Instanbul University public hearings final statement moral judgement condemnation global inaction Jury of Conscience

The Gaza Tribunal’s final judgment names Israel’s conduct in Gaza as genocide, condemning global inaction and affirming the duty of civil society to act where states have failed.

The Gaza People’s Tribunal, an international civil society initiative composed of jurists, academics, and human rights advocates, has concluded that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The announcement came on Sunday at Istanbul University, where the Tribunal delivered its final statement and moral judgment after four days of public hearings. The proceedings marked the culmination of a year-long process that began in London in November 2024 and continued in Sarajevo earlier this year.

The panel was chaired by Professor Christine Chinkin, an expert in international law, and presided over by Professor Richard Falk, former UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories. Its jurors, drawn from multiple continents, examined testimony from witnesses, legal experts, and survivors.

According to the panel, the evidence presented across these sessions demonstrates a “coherent and consistent pattern of exterminatory violence” against Gaza’s civilian population, carried out through the deliberate destruction of life, infrastructure, and cultural identity. In its final statement, the jury said it did not speak with the authority of states but as moral witnesses in the face of international inaction. Guided by conscience and informed by international law, the jurors declared that “when law is silenced by power, conscience must become the final tribunal.”

They described the initiative as a civil-society response to the international community’s continuing failure to hold Israel accountable. “Genocide in Gaza is the concern of all humanity,” they said. “When states are silent, civil society must speak out.”

The Tribunal emphasized that it had gathered extensive documentation—eyewitness accounts, expert analyses, and legal papers—that now form a permanent archive of the truth of what it described as “the genocide against the Palestinian people.”  (more...)

How The Israel Lobby Shaped Canada’s Definition Of Antisemitism

“When they talk about the supposed authority of the IHRA definition, what they mean is Israel and its allies.”

The federal government published “The Canadian Handbook on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism” last fall.

Despite its seemingly mundane title, the handbook’s contents prompted a raft of criticism from pro-Palestine advocates and anti-Zionist Jewish groups.

The handbook, which had been two years in the making, described its purpose as being to help Canadians understand the IHRA working definition of antisemitism, and “to provide guidance on how to apply the definition.”

The handbook stressed that the definition is not legally binding and does not “displace existing legal standards.” Nonetheless, it explicitly aimed to provide “guidance” for law enforcement, the legal system, educational institutions, government programming, workplaces and civil society.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), Canada’s leading pro-Israel lobby group, celebrated the handbook’s publication, stating: “The Canadian IHRA Handbook provides essential insights into the Jewish community, its indigeneity to the land of Israel, and the ways in which antisemitism undermines Jewish lived experiences.”

But many of Israel’s critics strongly disagreed.  (more...)

Canada The Independent press freedom IDF repression Canada Gaza targeting assassination Reporters Without Borders advocacy

The Independent joins Reporters Without Borders and hundreds of media outlets around the world to direct our collective attention to Israel’s targeting of journalists in its effort to quash press freedom and stop the flow of information out of Gaza to the rest of the world.

Today, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue their brutal military campaign against the people of Gaza, adding to the already incredulous civilian death toll (according to IDF’s own internal documents) in the tens of thousands, at minimum, many of them women and children. Israel has also targeted and murdered an unprecedented number of journalists in Gaza, whose presence and reporting from the war-torn region has humanized victims and exposed war crimes in one of the most horrific humanitarian disasters of our time.

In Canada, journalists and media advocacy groups routinely fight for press freedom here at home, the attacks on which are identifiable but far less brutal than those today in Gaza. We resist governments, corporations and police forces who intimidate or arrest journalists trying to shine a light on grave injustices. In 2016, when I was charged for reporting from the Indigenous-led occupation of Muskrat Falls in Labrador, press freedom groups around the country and world spoke up in support of The Independent’s work and condemned Nalcor Energy’s, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s, and the RCMP’s efforts to criminalize our journalism.

To stand for press freedom anywhere is to stand for press freedom everywhere. Journalists are our eyes and ears on the ground in places most of us can’t be. They bring us truths, no matter how inconvenient or uncomfortable. Without them, we cannot access important facts and context, therefore cannot purport to know the truth of a situation. Without the information and knowledge we obtain from journalists’ reporting, we cannot make the informed decisions necessary to protect the things we cherish most.  (more...)
