More victims possible in Kitchener teacher sex offence case


Police say they’re still investigating whether there are any other additional victims in the case of a Waterloo Region District School Board teacher charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

“We are coming forward with this information in case there are additional incidents, and so parents can have an open dialogue with their children about this incident,” Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson Alana Holtom tells CTV News.

Ian Sommer faces two criminal charges following an investigating that began last month.

He was arrested last week and released on a promise to appear in court in November.

In the past, he has taught at Forest Glen Public School in New Hamburg, while the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario website lists him as teaching at Queensmount Public School in Kitchener.  (more...)
