Second Toronto teacher charged with sexual exploitation of student

A teacher with the Toronto District School Board was charged with sexual exploitation and luring a female student under the age of 18 Monday.

According to Toronto Police, the teacher worked at Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts, near Lawrence and Victoria Park Aves.

A letter from the school was sent home Monday afternoon informing the community of the allegations.
“Upon learning of the allegations, staff acted immediately to send the employee home and call appropriate contacts, both at the Toronto District School Board and outside the TDSB,” said Tom Lazarou, the principal of the school, in the letter.

He said TDSB staff are available to help students with any questions or concerns they may have. The school has also organized a meeting for parents on Tuesday June, 17 at 6 p.m.

Adam Coysh, 29, of Markham is charged with one count of sexual exploitation and one count of child luring. An email to David Smith, the trustee for the area, was not returned.

Coysh is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, July 24 at the Eglinton court house.

It is the second Toronto teacher to be charged with sexual exploitation in less than a week.  (more...)
