Local MPP Randy Hillier says he regrets his decision to retweet a photo of NDP Leader Andrea Horwath wearing a head covering while speaking to a Muslim cleric, and commenting that it was “quite the image.”

“Without reservation I regret my tweets on Friday night, being offensive is not my nature and I’m Sorry. Posts have been deleted,” Hillier tweeted Saturday night.

The original tweet, by @Banks-Todd, featured of a photo of Horwath speaking to an imam. She is shoeless and wearing an orange head covering.

“Meet Ontario NDP leader @AndreaHorwath bare foot and dehumanized with head gear, as she submits to the will of a Muslim male,” said the tweet from Bank, who describes himself as “Dark days. Moron in the Prime Minister’s office + criminal gang in charge of Ontario.”

Hillier, the Progressive Conservative MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox & Addington, retweeted the post and added the comment: “That’s quite the image looks like she swallowed Cheri’s message hook line and sinker.”  (more...)
