Social media users have warmly reacted to the news of the inauguration of the Saint Mary subway station in Iran’s capital, Tehran, describing it as a positive counter to the negative portrayal of the country in Western mainstream media.

In a post on X on Sunday, award-winning journalist Hala Jaber said the move symbolizes the peaceful coexistence of religious minorities in Iran. 

Jaber said the opening reflects the constitutional protection and representation of Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians in Iran, with dedicated parliamentary seats for each community.

I wish to do so as Successor of Peter and Pastor of the universal Church, entering into this heritage of veneration and love, dedication and trust, which for centuries has been part of the Church of Brazil and of all those who form it, without considering differences of origin, race, and social position, and wherever they live in this immense country. At this moment they have all been looking to Fortaleza and asking themselves: "Where are you going?"

O Mother! Let the Church be for this Brazilian people a sacrament of salvation and a sign of the unity of all men, adopted brothers and sisters of your Son and children of the heavenly Father!

O Mother! Let this Church following the example of Christ by serving man constantly, defend everyone, especially the poor and the needy, those living on the fringes of society and in want. Let the Church of Brazil always be at the service of justice among men and at the same time contribute to the common good of all and to social peace.

O Mother! Open the hearts of men and let everyone understand that only in the spirit of the Gospel and observing the commandment of love and the beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount will it be possible to construct a more human world, in which the dignity of all men will really be given new value.

O Mother!  Let the Church which in this land of Brazil has carried out a great work of evangelization in the past and whose history is rich in experience, accomplish her tasks today with new zeal, with new love of the mission received from Christ. For this purpose grant her numerous priestly and religious vocations, so that the whole People of God may benefit from the ministry of the stewards of the Eucharist and of the witnesses to the Gospel.

O Mother! Accept in your heart all Brazilian families! Accept all adults and old people, the young and children! Accept the sick and all those who live in solitude! Accept workers in the fields and factories, intellectuals in schools and universities, all those who are working in any institution. Protect them all!

Do not cease, O Virgin Aparecida, to demonstrate with your own presence in this land that love is stronger than death, more powerful than sin! Do not cease to show us God, who so loved the world that he gave it his only Son, that none of us should perish but have eternal life (cf. Jn. 3:16). Amen!

Pope Saint Pius VII and General Napoleon Bonaparte

General Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769, Feast of the Assumption. This fact would lead one to believe that in his life, Napoleon would hold the Blessed Virgin highly, however, throughout his life Napoleon did not exhibit any devotion to the Blessed Mother. On the contrary he was probably initiated in Freemasonry on June 12-19, 1798, into the Army Philadelphe Lodge, in Malta. His Masonic membership is disputed, however, as a sure fact Napoleon Bonaparte was the protector of Freemasonry and experienced at least one ‘dark’ supernatural episode, whilst visiting the ancient pyramids at Giza, Egypt. When the Duke of Orleans died, Freemasonry in France needed a Grandmaster. They invited General Bonaparte to fill this post, the General demanded: “…a memoir on the objects and principles of the association.” The memoir presented explained that, since the burning at the stake of Jacques de Molay, Grandmaster of the Knights Templars, the: “… vengeance alluded to in the Elu degrees and in Kadosh was that which the Templars formerly swore to execute upon King Philip the Fair, the destroyer of the Order, and upon his successors, but this vengeance was accomplished by the accession of Napoleon to the imperial throne.” Napoleon nominated his brother, the King of Spain, as Grandmaster and invited many both in the military and government officials to join the Craft. Thus, the power of Freemasonry grew much. Not that the Craft needed further power and influence, for the sect had already succeeded at bringing about the French Revolution. The French authorities had indeed already carried out their antichristian persecution of the religious houses, blaming the cleric’s unswerving loyalty to the Pope. French Kings Louis XVI and his son Louis XVII, were assassinated during the ‘Reign of Terror,’ and the Masonic pledge of vengeance upon the descendents of King Philip the Fair, against Monarchy and Religion, had been accomplished in the foulest of ways.

In 1796, the French Army crossed the Alps into Italy. The intention was to march on Rome, conquer the ancient city of the Empire and take hostage the Pope; this sounded like a perfect plan for the child of the enlightenment, the French Masonic General Bonaparte. Nevertheless, Napoleon had not considered the fine details, such as the fact that the Blessed Virgin, the protector of the Roman Pontiff and the Church of Jesus Christ, was about to pit her supernatural strength and favor before the Lord, against the earthly powers and their gods of illuminism, science, war and reason.  (more...)

On November 22, 1982, in the old city of Damascus, within walking distance of the House of Ananias (where Paul became the light of Christ to the gentiles), a strange new light began to shine, dim at first, but [with the grace of God] a beacon to re-light the world.

A young girl named Myrna prayed over the bed of her sister-in-law, Layla. She was very sick. Two other women prayed with her, an Orthodox woman, and a Moslem woman. As they prayed, the Moslem woman noticed light coming from Mirna's hands. [Mirna didn't notice it.] After the light, oil began to flow right out of her skin. Mayada Kowzaly shouted at her to look at her hands. Myrna, confused, didn't know what was happening nor what to do about it. Mayada quickly told her to put her hands on Layla, the sick woman. She was instantly cured. And so the light began to shine in this bewildered young woman. Mirna had just turned 18 and had only been married six months.1

That evening her husband, Nicolas, came by to pick Myrna up. Excited, they told him what happened. He reprimanded Mirna severely. Neither of them knew what to make of it.

The bold proclamation in the headline of this article was personally witnessed by St. Maximilian Kolbe, who watched Freemasons celebrate their bicentennial in St. Peter’s Square in 1917. St. Maximilian Kolbe saw banners bearing these words amidst the revelry. It’s a jarring and shocking statement, but it is totally in keeping with the aims of Freemasonry and it bears a great deal of significance for us today.

Before we go any further, it must be made perfectly clear that the Lepanto Institute is in NO WAY accusing Pope Francis of being a Freemason or suggesting that he is a willing advocate for Masonic principles. However, in light of certain recent events, what has become manifestly obvious is that there is a grave moral threat within the walls of the Church being orchestrated by unscrupulous men. The intent of this article is to attempt to shed some light on these events and perhaps make sense of these troubling times.

The banners observed by St. Maximilian Kolbe call to mind the battle plan against the Catholic Church as established by Freemasons. In 1859, the French Cardinal Jacques Crétineau-Joly published Masonic documents obtained by the Vatican in his book, “The Roman Church facing the Revolution.” The documents came from a lodge of Freemasonry called the Alta Vendita. Twenty-six years later, in 1885, Msgr. George Dillon published an English translation of these documents in his book, “Grand Orient Freemasonry Unmasked as the Secret Power Behind Communism.”

According to these documents, the Alta Vendita lodge of Freemasonry openly declared that its “ultimate end is that of Voltaire and of the French Revolution – the final destruction forever of Catholicism, and even of the Christian idea.”  (more...)

At the end of 2003 Michael Davies wrote a "Letter from London" column for the US based Catholic newspaper The Remnant. In it he reluctantly revealed that he was dying from terminal prostate cancer. This reluctance stemmed, he told us, from his "British" dislike of making a fuss and bringing personal details into his writings. But a confidence had been broken, the news was out and hundreds of concerned admirers had been besieging him on the internet so he had no choice but to reveal the facts.

The column was lively, informative, filled with faith and even laced with humour. The appeal for well wishers to resist sending him "herbal remedies" was a case in point. It revealed, as one of my sons remarked, ‘true grit from a true Brit,’ which evoked a riposte from his father, ‘Yes. But a Brit of the old school!’

The Bromley teacher, turned best selling writer, was certainly of the old school. After military service as an infantry man in the British army he devoted thirty years of his life to instructing children at Catholic primary schools in south London and still found time to embrace Catholic tradition and use his many books to carry out a staunch defence of Catholic orthodoxy. For the first time, by reading a Michael Davies expose, millions of Catholics came face to face with what he had detected soon after the end of Vatican II. The indisputable fact that the changes since the Council have been disastrous and that the Church is in a state of serious crisis.

But not every one loved him. He had to face severe, even vicious criticism. I hope his death in September 2004 sent one particular American critic who bears the sobriquet ‘Catholic writer,’ scurrying to the Confessional box. I refer to the man who, in a particularly mean, spiteful and mendacious article described Mr Davies as, ‘the Lefebvrist worm in Una Voce’ . Una Voce being the organisation set up to safeguard the Tridentine Mass and work for its extension throughout the world. Mr Davies resigned from its Presidency just before he wrote the "London Letter" mentioned above.

Of course Michael Davies must have been fully aware that as he set out to chronicle the Modernist heresy and the collapse of the Church in the West since 1960 he would upset Establishment figures who, having lost the Faith, had decided to march to the sound of another drummer: the intoxicating rhythm of relativism which leads to false ecumenism, syncretism and eventual apostasy.  (more...)

Modernization theory proposes that increased structural complexity in society equates with greater efficiency, thus the more social differentiation, the more specialized we become and better able to perform our tasks. In developing countries, changing from an agrarian economy to a diversified economy is one manifestation of modernization. This is progress described in the broadest terms but does progress really occur in this manner? Does increased structural complexity really yield anything truly worthwhile in developing countries? Short of some cataclysm, modernism is viewed as a one-way street, but is it really? Could modernization and its economic partner globalization actually lead to what has been termed barbarization or even decivilization? Is change always for the better?

The Dutch sociologist Mart Bax has spent well over fifteen years studying firsthand a small town in Bosnia Herzegovina, which has been the site of unprecedented growth, specialization, and globalization. The name of the town is Medjugorje and Bax made "scientific" outings on an annual basis to meet with his informants and make and record observations. Medjugorje was a small agrarian hamlet in Herzegovina prior to 1981, notable only for being near the site of a massacre of Serbs by Croats in 1942. The Croats who allied themselves with Nazi Germany took revenge on the Serbs under whose rule the Croats had chafed after WWI. The Croats formed the paramilitary Ustasa organization and with the help of Roman Catholic clergy sought to purge Croatia and Bosnia of the hated Serbs who were Orthodox Christians. Operating from Medjugorje, the Ustasa rounded up the local Serbs and slaughtered several hundred Serbs disposing of them in a ravine at a place called Suramanci.

On June 24, 1981, the Virgin Mary or Gospa as she is referred to in the local dialect appeared to six Croatian teenagers who had gone out to have a smoke or as was later revised by the local clerics, to look for "lost lambs." What followed was a ten-year period of unprecedented growth and modernization fueled by a steady influx of pilgrims from Western Europe and America, freely spending hard currency and enhancing the local economy. Medjugorje prospered like never before despite the opposition of the local Bishop and the suspicions of the Yugoslav secret police and government authorities.  (more...)

Parents have registered their children; curriculums and lesson plans are being drafted, and catechists are being recruited. As these programs commence, a commendable practice for the program would be to entrust the year’s faith formation to the intercession of the Queen of Heaven, Our Lady of Good Help. For those who labor in the Church’s vineyard of religious education and catechesis, the story of Sister Adele Brise and the Marian apparitions which she received can be a source of inspiration as they undertake their work. The Mother of God Against Freemasonry -- Church Crisis Prophesied 400 Years Ago

(Quito) Between 1582 and 1634, the Mother of God and Virgin Mary appeared to  Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres, a cloistered in Quito, located in today's Ecuador. The Blessed Virgin foretold to the nun, the devastation caused by the Freemasonry in the 20th century.

The present capital of Ecuador, San Francisco de Quito, where Mother Mariana de Jesus lived and had the visions, was founded in 1534 by the Spanish. Ecuador made at the time of Mother Mariana de Jesus founded its  own Audiencia (Provincial administration) in 1563   within the Spanish Viceroyalty of New Castile (Peru).

1577 brought five Spanish Sisters of 1484 by the Holy Beatrix da Silva Meneses in Toledo, founded in 1511 and recognized by Rome as the Order of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, better known as Conceptionists to San Francisco de Quito on to found the first convent in America.  Mariana de Jesus Torres was one of the young religious women. In the apparition of January 16, 1599 the Mother of God urged her to create a statue exactly in their own image, which was finally consecrated by the Bishop of Quito on February 2, 1611. The statue has since been revered as "Our Lady of the Good Success of Purity."  Mary is holding the infant Jesus in her left arm and her right a crosier.  (more...)

Today, hundreds of people visit the shrine each day to pray at the site where Mary appeared, at the gravesite of the visionary, Sister Adele Brise, and to learn about Our Lady’s message and mission. While some come to the shrine on their own accord, others come as part of a parish pilgrimage, led by their priest. Given that the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help is the only place recognized as a site of an approved Marian apparition in the United States of America, it is important for priests to integrate the story of this apparition into their lives and ministry. I propose a threefold approach for clergy to understanding the importance of the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help: spiritual, pastoral, and missiological.  (more...)
