Handala group says it breached Israeli cyber unit 8200, exposing 80 officers’ identities and claiming access to surveillance and cyber warfare data.
The Handala hacker group has announced a major cyber intrusion, declaring that it succeeded in exposing the identities of 80 senior cyber warfare officers linked to the Israeli military intelligence cyber unit.
According to materials published by the group, the operation resulted in the leak of names, photos, and personal details of officers believed to serve in the Israeli elite cyber intelligence division, Unit 8200.
The group said the exposed personnel are believed to be primarily based at Base 042 in the city of Rosh HaAyin, which it said was a central hub for cyber operations and technological warfare activities.
The leaked data, as circulated by the group, said that the officers play key roles in developing advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning systems designed to track Persian-speaking targets.
It also revealed involvement in building large-scale data analysis platforms and digital surveillance tools used to monitor social media platforms and broader cyberspace activity.
The group said the unit is also engaged in offensive cyber operations targeting critical infrastructure and communication networks, alongside psychological warfare designed to influence public opinion.
The group further stated that the officers are involved in managing hybrid intelligence systems that combine human intelligence with automated surveillance technologies. (more...)
