Israeli media sources early Thursday reported the arrest of two Israeli Air Force engineers accused of spying for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report by Kan, the two individuals are charged with transferring classified data and technical information related to F-15 fighter jets during the recent conflict. The report states that they were stationed at Tel Nof Airbase near Ashdod, where they worked on F-15 aircraft.

The suspects allegedly provided Iran with documents including engine diagrams, as well as images of training aircraft associated with these fighter jets.

The report further claimed that they had been asked to gather information on former IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Israeli authorities are reportedly considering whether to upgrade the charges against one of the suspects from espionage to treason.

Kan also reported that eight other military personnel at Tel Nof Airbase are suspected of being aware of the activities of the two engineers but failed to report them to senior officials.  (more...)
