Is German imperialism a thing of the past? Does it belong to the era of Kaiser Wilhelm II with its last blood soaked flurry coming with the Austrian failed water colour artist? In this episode we answer this question with a resounding NO.
German imperialism is a very real and very modern phenomenon. In its modern incarnation German imperialism re-emerges in the late 1980s with the counter revolution in the East. What becomes clear as the 1990s move into the 2000s is that the unified Germany has come to control the EU and dominate the former Peoples Democracies of Eastern and Central Europe.
German imperialism is real. It is rearming and its a dangerous force that deserves a serious analytical treatment. Here at the Decline & Fall show we aim to provide that.
