Former Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath is now being probed by five different police forces as more alleged victims continue to come forward with sexual abuse claims.

Kent and Hampshire Police became the latest forces to reveal they are probing Sir Edward after an alleged victim came forward to claim that the politician had assaulted them in the 1960s.

As well as probes by Wiltshire, London, and Jersey detectives, there is speculation officers in Northern Ireland could examine whether the Tory politician had links to a children’s home at the centre of a child abuse inquiry.

Wiltshire Police appealed on Monday for potential victims of Sir Edward to come forward and ‘not suffer in silence’.

Last night, the force, which is being investigated over claims its officers covered up child sex allegations against Sir Edward in the 1990s, said it had received ‘a number of calls’.  (more...)
