OPP to meet with students

BELLEVILLE - Central Hastings OPP officers will soon be meeting with local students in relation to the investigation of allegations against Jaclyn McLaren.

The 36-year-old Stirling woman, a teacher with the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board,  is accused of 36 sex crimes involving minors. OPP say the charges, laid last month, involve four young people ages 12 to 15 and date from 2013 to 2016. Investigators say the incidents occurred in Tweed.

On Tuesday, some students at Moira Secondary School received a letter stating police would be at the school Thursday.

The letter, written by school principal Grant Montgomery, states officers will be meeting with Grade 9 students Thursday, March 3. The letter states police will meet briefly with students and “ask a few questions.”  (more...)
