Sign of Contradiction? Angela Kennedy picked as Toronto Catholic school board’s new chair

Toronto Catholic School Board appointed trustee Angela Kennedy as its new chair Monday after she ran for the position unopposed.

“I’m very happy to be in this leadership position. It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to take my experience and my knowledge that I’ve gained after being 15 years of being a trustee,” Kennedy — outspoken this year against Ontario’s new sex-ed curriculum — said Monday night.

Kennedy said she plans to “concentrate on governance” and on getting a series of bylaws approved . “We also have a budget to address,” she said. The TCDSB (Toronto District School Board) is running a deficit of about $16 million and is expected to cut $10 million off its budget next year.  (more...)
