The Knives Come Out for the TDSB

Education Minister Liz Sandals has had her hands full with TDSB infighting in the past year.
Toronto’s conflict-ridden public school board will be the subject of yet another report into what to do about it, to be released by the provincial government Thursday morning at Queen’s Park.

The report by education veteran Margaret Wilson was ordered by Education Minister Liz Sandals in late November after months of trustee and staff infighting at the Toronto District School Board. That culminated in a reported showdown during a private meeting Oct. 29, between the board’s director, Donna Quan, her trustee supporters and other trustees who complained they had been blocked from accessing Ms. Quan’s contract. The contract was later released at a private meeting in December.

When she ordered the review, Ms. Sandals said she had “no choice but to act,” adding she expected the review would help restore public confidence in Canada’s largest school board.  (more...)
