Nova Scotia Teachers Union affirms homosexuality

The Nova Scotia Teachers Union's Equity Committee Liaison Handbook makes it clear that teachers must affirm and accommodate homosexuality. Teachers have no choice but to accept and support this societal change.

Should any teacher back the traditional family and marriage between a man and a woman, they will no doubt face discrimination. This is because the guidelines make it clear that teachers are mandated to eliminate "homophobia" and "heterosexism." The guideline states, "Educators have a responsibility for the elimination of homophobia and heterosexism in the working and learning environment." In other words, parents and teachers cannot disagree or question homosexuality. Is this education or indoctrination?

Teachers are not permitted to even counsel students about their "sexual orientation." Here's how the guidelines put it, "sexual minority students must have the right to counselling that is supportive, affirming and free from efforts on the part of counsellors to change their sexual orientation and/or identity through the use of or the referral to aversion, reparative, or conversion therapies." Note how the positive sounding expression "sexual minority students" that's used for those students that claim to be homosexuals. Teachers and parents who don't support this view are prejudiced and in need of "re-education" programs. In plain English, teachers must accept homosexuality or face the consequences socially and professionally. And no teacher should even think of counselling any students away from homosexuality. What gives the teachers the moral authority to know and think that they are the ones who are correct on this? What has happened to parental rights? Where is the freedom of speech and religion?  (more...)
