With Ontario's municipal elections coming up in October 27, 2014, we thought it important to remind parents and all those interested in public education that the trustees who are elected will shape both the direction and moral quality of education. There's a need to elect trustees who will respect and defend parental rights. In Catholic schools, there's the additional need to vote for candidates who will be faithful to Catholic teaching. The best way to cast an informed vote is to know where we have been educationally, where are we now, and where do we want and should go in the future. The election of good candidates is a serious issue because it will influence the kind of education children receive in the province. This is the time when parents do have a say if they are active participants in electing the right people. So, let's look at some of the history. (more...)
