Forcillo's police disciplinary hearing will happen after appeal
Const. James Forcillo’s police disciplinary hearing will have to wait until his appeal for his conviction and sentence of six years for the attempted murder of Sammy Yatim is completed.
His lawyer Bryan Badali says Forcillo faces three counts in total under the Police Services Act. Charges of discreditable conduct and unnecessary use of force were laid after the criminal charges in 2013, he said. A further charge of discreditable conduct was laid after Forcillo was convicted of attempted murder by a jury in January.
Forcillo, who has been suspended without pay and is on bail pending appeal, did not attend the brief appearance at Toronto Police Headquarters.
The possible penalties for being found guilty of the police act charges range from a reprimand to termination. (more...)
Disgrace that suspended cop's been collecting salary for 9 years
TORONTO - For a lucky nine years, Toronto Police Const. Ioan-Florin Floria has been sitting at home and drawing his salary while suspended from duty on allegations he used his position to assist his friends in an Eastern European drug cartel.
Almost a decade has passed since the former traffic cop was swept up in a shocking drug bust that saw the alleged kingpins of a Romanian gang under arrest for an international operation that swapped marijuana for cocaine.
Floria, a 34-year-old breath technician with eight years experience, was charged with numerous offences including breach of trust, money laundering and accessory after the fact to kidnapping. Police at the time said they were surprised when Floria’s name surfaced in association with some of the other accused in their eight-month investigation into the multimillion-dollar drug cartel.
Former chief Bill Blair could barely conceal his contempt at the time and assured the public that police corruption was not widespread. Floria would later complain that even his police association distanced itself and wouldn’t pay for his defence. (more...)

Politicians Have No More Excuses For Perpetuating Tax Avoidance
A basic principle of any modern democracy is equality before the law. That principle includes tax law.
Nobody likes to pay taxes. It is often said that it is the price to pay for civilization. After all, they help pay for our schools, our roads, our health-care system and a social safety net that helps decrease income inequality. However, the pill is easier to swallow when everyone pays their fair share.
It's increasingly clear that in Canada -- and in most industrialized countries -- many are not. We have a two-tier system where the wealthy and the corporations can escape their obligations, and the rest of us can't.
As early as 1992, the auditor general of Canada pointed out the dangers of this unfair situation, when it warned that "Avoidance mechanisms also have a negative effect on the equity and integrity of the tax system and on public attitudes toward voluntary compliance. Access to such mechanisms is usually limited to those who can afford expensive advice. Those who cannot, therefore, may be denied equitable or even-handed treatment."
In a lengthy, but tone-deaf two-page answer, the finance department rejected the auditor general's recommendations and didn't even bother to address the fairness question that it raised. (more...)
Ottawa music teacher charged after two students allegedly sexually assaulted
Ottawa police have charged a Brampton, Ont., man with sexual assault after allegations that he inappropriately touched two of his students while he was a music teacher at a private studio.
Jose Hernandez, 70, is facing two counts of sexual assault for incidents police say happened at the Ottawa studio between 2012 and 2016.
Police say they received the first complaint in May, which led to Hernandez being charged in July.
Another alleged victim was subsequently identified, leading to a second sexual assault charge.
Police say they are continuing to investigate and they are concerned there may be more victims. (more...)

This stuff captures my attention because my early university years placed me among a Frankfurt School Nazi sheep-dipping operation that funneled many second-generation offspring of Axis emigres into important positions and careers in Canada. That networks such as Soros' exist is not news to me. Those who've been lulled into the left-right dialectic need to ask who is paying the piper.
A key method of concealment in black operations is to distribute activities over "stovepipes" so that overall plans are difficult to discern. The Frankfurt School was not only a centre for the subversion of sexual values. Adorno's "de-Nazification" project also served the overarching plan of the oligarchs -- population control and eugenics. His phony theoretical fig-leaf obscured the recruitment of Europe's murderous ideologues into the engines of contraception and abortion. We didn't only lose a "culture war". We lost the continuation of WWII into the next millenium.
