Jeremy Corbyn recalls Iraq war speech amid Israel's attacks on Iran

Speaking to Middle East Eye at a protest in London, former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn warned against rising Western tensions with Iran, drawing stark parallels to the lead-up to the 2003 Iraq War. A long-time critic of military intervention, Corbyn condemned the repeated pattern of Western-led conflicts, from Afghanistan to Libya, which, he said, have consistently left behind poverty, destruction, and fractured societies.

Corbyn accused the Israeli government of using its attacks on Iran as a distraction from war crimes in Gaza and criticised Western governments for enabling Israel's continued war, driven in part by what he described as the “malevolent” influence of the arms industry, which continues to thrive amid soaring military spending.
