Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand’s office says it would be “imprudent” to comment on the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
This comes after the world’s top scholars on the topic agreed that Israel’s actions in Gaza meet the definition of the crime of genocide.
“As the Prime Minister has previously stated, there is a case in front of the International Court of Justice,” Anand’s spokesperson told me in an email.
“As the ICJ is an independent, legal body it would be imprudent to comment.”
But Canada’s Parliament hasn’t always found it “imprudent” to comment on the genocidal acts of a state, despite potential international legal action.
In today’s video, we’ll break this down.
Then, after looking at how our leaders are failing us, we’ll talk about the power of people.
The Global Sumud Flotilla is setting sail to break Israel’s siege on Gaza. While Israel has attacked and illegally intercepted the flotillas since 2010, this is the largest one yet — and it could make it.
