Parents should demand that their concerns shape Ontario's sex education curriculum

Benjamin Levin, sex offender
There are many reasons why public schools and in particular Catholic education should reject the new sex education curriculum. Given the fact that the government is not listening to parents, alternative strategies to protect children must be considered. Parents can begin by putting the government on notice that they expect schools to teach only the Health and Physical part of the course. Parents can request that teachers delete from implementation the sections dealing with human sexuality, marriage and family or any topic that contradicts their cultural values and beliefs. Catholics can challenge the curriculum because it conflicts with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. On this point, there’s no negotiating or compromise. This position should be taken to protect Catholic education, but also to help keep safe those students who attend public schools from this dangerous and indoctrinating curriculum. Catholic have a constitutional right to do so.

We now know that a major player responsible for crafting the curriculum is a child sex offender, then it makes complete sense to scrap the sex education part of the curriculum and let teachers go ahead and implement the health and physical education part of the program. Parents must let their children teacher and principal know that this is what they demand unless an independent and objective review of the curriculum is be done with proper and province wide parental input.  (more...)
