Former foster dad targeted `over 100’ vulnerable girls online

The former Stoneham school official at the center of a state lawsuit claiming he abused a foster child in his care was called a “manipulative” predator who graduated from downloading child porn to targeting vulnerable teens online — including other foster children — at his hearing in federal court today.

Steven Orloff, 48, connected with “several hundred” girls online, all of them between the ages of 11 and 15, and tried soliciting “over 100, easily” into performing sexual acts on a live webcam — all while posing as a 14-year-old boy, federal authorities said in U.S. District Court in Boston.

Orloff faces up to 30 years in prison if found guilty of a federal charge of producing child pornography.  (more...)
