Husband of former Ontario deputy premier is missing: Police

TORONTO -- The 39-year-old husband of former Toronto mayoral candidate and deputy premier George Smitherman has gone missing.
Toronto Police said Tuesday that Christopher Peloso was last seen Monday at 4 p.m. in the Bathurst St.-Davenport Road area.

Smitherman did not respond to an e-mail requesting comment.

But the former provincial Liberal cabinet minister issued a brief statement confirming that Peloso was missing.

"Michael, Kayla and myself, with the support of family and friends, are hopeful that our husband and father will be home safely soon," he said in the statement.  (more...)
