Ottawa elementary school employee arrested on child porn charges

Luc Lacasse, 49, who lives in Gatineau, is the chief custodian at École élémentaire catholique Montfort in the east end of Ottawa. Lacasse was arrested on school property around 7 a.m. Wednesday, said Roxanne Deevey, spokeswoman for the Conseil des écoles catholiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, the French Catholic board.

Lacasse was one of three Gatineau men arrested and one of 28 people swept up in total as a result of Projet Mainmise, a four-month joint investigation between RCMP and Quebec provincial police, that began in June of this year. Investigators detected individuals sharing files on the Internet and began looking into their digital interactions. As part of the raids that led to the charges, police seized 28 computers, 32 USB keys and more than 1,300 CDs and DVDs. Police said they have identified a five-year-old boy who lives in Quebec as the only victim of the ring, but said they could find other victims once they go through the material seized. Catholic teachers and parents to protest ‘faith’ retreat led by dissenting theologian
Prof. Thomas Groome, a laicized priest, will address almost 4,000 Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) staff at the mandatory November 22 Professional Activity Day (PA Day) in Hamilton’s Copps Coliseum. Hamilton’s Bishop Douglas Crosby will preside over the morning Mass prior to Groome’s presentation.
Concerned Catholic parents and teachers are organizing a protest outside the venue. They say that a Catholic school board should not be giving a platform to what they call an “infamous” Catholic dissenter.
“Groome is opposed to many Catholic teachings, even dogmatic ones, such as the prohibition of the ordination of women solemnly defined by Blessed John Paul II,” said an HCDSB Catholic educator to LifeSiteNews.com under the condition of anonymity. “He has no place in mentoring Catholic teachers.” (more...)

“Listening to someone drone on and on about high college costs is akin to having to endure the pain of hemorrhoid surgery,” Vedder said to the 50-plus students gathered to hear the Ohio University scholar and prolific writer on higher education trends delve into financial concerns facing today’s college students.
Vedder said federally subsidized college loans have forced tuition rates through the roof and wreaked havoc on college students’ checking accounts and future debt, but perhaps worst of all is how the program has hurt the very students it aimed to help: low-income ones.
“Federally subsidized loans, created sometime during the 1970s, were supposed to help poor young people get an affordable college education,” he said. “But, as the years go by, we have actually seen education become less affordable for poor people, not more affordable.”
“Prior to federally subsidized loans becoming the norm, 12 percent of young, low-income students were acquiring degrees, but now, 40 years later, and untold millions of taxpayer dollars later, that number has dropped to 7 percent,” he added. “Poor people are being hurt by federally subsidized school loans.”
There’s more bad news.
“Admissions rates decreased last year for the first time in several years, showing that students are beginning to shy away from getting a college education, simply because it is too damn expensive,” Vedder said. (more...)

In a best case scenario, there is a widow who comes out of the closet after her husband dies, and then gets help from a lesbian lover while raising her children. She makes sure not to trample on their father's memory, and doesn't force them to call her new lover "Mom." In that one rare, specific, unintentional case, yes, same-sex parenting is okay.
Every other scenario involving a same-sex couple with exclusive custody of small children is adult misconduct at best or a crime against humanity at worst. (more...)

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
We are gathered here today in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for a special Holy Hour before the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament to participate in "Prayers of Supplication and Exorcism in Reparation for the Sin of Same-Sex Marriage." I wish to preface my reflections by saying that I am conducting this prayer service and am speaking to you now with great reluctance. I did not seek to enter any controversy and I don't relish being part of one. But I have given this matter a great deal of thought and prayer, which has led me to the conviction that God is calling me to speak out and conduct these prayers.
In our prayers, we must be open to hear where God is leading us and to embrace the path that He offers. That is a much different starting point than beginning with our own wants, desires, and conclusions. That is why we pray every day, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
Our prayers at this time are prompted by the fact that the Governor of Illinois today is signing into Illinois law the redefinition of civil marriage, introducing not only an unprecedented novelty into our state law, but also institutionalizing an objectively sinful reality. (more...)
