A 28-year-old Vaughan woman has been charged with sexual assault following allegations of a relationship between a female high school teacher and a male student.

York Regional Police said the investigation began after they received information that a supply teacher for the York Catholic District School Board was involved in a sexual relationship with a male teenage student between October and December 2017.

On Wednesday, police arrested Marianna Riossi, 28, of Vaughan. She was charged with three counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual exploitation.

Riossi is scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on March 6.

Police say Riossi has been an occasional high school supply teacher with the YCDSB since 2014.  (more...)
