Toronto Vigil for Palestinian Students Killed by Israel in Gaza

 

Did you know the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan invests in companies complicit in Israel's genocide of the Palestinians? 

On February 20, teachers and parents held a vigil for the tens of thousands of Palestinian kids killed by Israel in Gaza. The vigil was held outside the offices of the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan. The teachers were demanding that their pension funds not be invested in companies complicit in Israel's scholasticide. 

“As teachers we have a moral and professional duty to ensure the health, well-being, and safety of all students,” said Nigel Barriffe, Vice-President of the Elementary Teachers of Toronto. “So we stand here today to mourn and remember the more than 16 thousand students and teachers killed in Gaza, and demand our pension plan divest from companies complicit in these deaths.” 

The teachers and their supporters held a scroll with the names of children and educators killed by Israel over the past sixteen months.
