On October 1, 2024, following Iran's retaliatory missile strikes on Israel, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that he "unequivocally condemned" Iran's attack and that Israel had a "right to defend itself".
Trudeau used no such language when Israel destroyed Iran's Syrian Embassy in April of this year: Trudeau did not condemn Israel's criminal act, nor did he acknowledge that Iran has a right to defend itself.
Nonetheless, despite condemning Iran and reiterating his support for Israel's right to 'self-defence', Trudeau called for de-escalation in West Asia.
Canadian author and activist Yves Engler spoke with Dimitri Lascaris about Trudeau's latest parroting of Washington's line. According to Lascaris, Justin Trudeau now behaves like Joe Biden's "yapping chihuahua", and Trudeau's unequivocal support for Israel's genocidal regime will do nothing to advance peace in the region.
