Falls teacher facing sex charges terminated by board

NIAGARA FALLS — A French teacher at A.N. Myer Secondary School who was charged with sexual assault is no longer employed by the District School Board of Niagara.

The board approved the termination of the 31-year-old teacher at its May 24 meeting.

Michael Molnar was suspended from his duties with the board on December 18, 2015, after a Niagara Regional Police investigation was launched.

“That investigation led to his termination,” said Kim Yielding, manager of communications and public relations for the board.

That investigation involved two female students under 18 years of age at the time of the alleged offences. Police say detectives determined one of the girls was a student at A.N. Myer where the teacher taught from 2013 until the investigation began. The second girl was a student at Sir Winston Secondary School in St. Catharines, where the teacher taught from 2009 to 2013. Police say the allegations stem from incidents which occurred both on and off school property, during and after school hours.  (more...)
