Controversial American physician to discuss government’s revised sex education curriculum

An outspoken American physician is holding a seminar in Mississauga Aug. 18 to speak about what she describes as “the dangers” of Ontario’s new sex-ed curriculum, set to roll out in public schools this fall.

Dr. Miriam Grossman, whose specialties are paediatrics and psychiatry, will speak at Mississauga’s Red Rose Convention Centre (1233 Derry Road East) at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Grossman has garnered much support for her views, but has also been ridiculed by detractors who believe she is out of touch with the realities of today’s teenagers and their sexual activity, arguing she promotes sexual ignorance and not sexual education.

Grossman has lectured worldwide and describes herself on her website as “a doctor who’s fed up.”

Grossman has argued that “sex education promotes the ‘anything goes, women are just like men’ way of thinking” and that the medical profession “arms vulnerable young people with half-truths, and sends them out to play in a minefield.”  (more...)
