A Nova Scotian man helped Nepalese authorities lock up Ernest Fenwick MacIntosh for sexually abusing a boy in that country.

MacIntosh, 71, was convicted for sexually abusing Bob Martin in the 1970s, but that 2010 conviction was overturned because the case took too long to go to court.

Since then, Martin tracked MacIntosh as he travelled the world and posted videos and updates from his journey. He learned about the December arrest in Nepal and swung into action.

"They [didn't] realize they’ve got such a big fish," he said.

Martin gathered information on MacIntosh's background, including the CBC’s timeline of his crimes, and translated it into Nepalese and sent it to government officials there. He also sent hundreds of emails to news outlets documenting MacIntosh’s history.

"My lawyer tells me it had a profound response on what happened there," Martin said.  (more...)
