Don Bosco's principles of education: a breath of fresh air to the current controversy in Ontario


In the media, we currently have so much coverage about the explicit sex education for Ontario schools planned for the fall that it's a welcome and refreshing change to look at an educator who knew what education was truly about. It was centred on the child and the truth. More on this later. Readers of this blog know that we have taken the position that the government must listen to parental concerns and implement the sex curriculum accordingly. The best option would be to scrap the sex education part completely. The other is teach it in separate sections so that students can choose not to attend the lessons their parents find inappropriate. Catholic schools, however, should reject the entire sex curriculum because it contradicts the Catechism and it violates their constitutional right to Catholic education.  (more...)
