Petition calls for full disclosure and time for feedback

have organized a petition to call for full disclosure of what is in the new
sexual education curriculum to be introduced in September.

A group of local concerned citizens is joining a call across the province demanding the Ontario government provide full disclosure on the new sex education curriculum before it is introduced in September.

A petition is being circulated locally calling for the Ontario Liberal government to keep its promise to consult with voters on this issue. The petition also calls for the government to publicly release the updated version of the sexual education curriculum to provide time for it to be reviewed so meaningful feedback can be considered.

The petition states that the government's decision to have one hand-picked parent from each school consulted doesn't constitute broad public feedback on the new curriculum.

Pennie Vandenbroek, an organizer of the petition, said not fully disclosing the contents of the new sex-ed curriculum to the public leaves most people in the dark.  (more...)
