OTTAWA — A Gatineau family doctor who possessed child pornography was sentenced Friday to a year in jail.
Dr. Jean-François Coupal was returning from a trip to Thailand in October 2011 when he was stopped for a routine check at the Ottawa airport.
Customs agents checked a USB device and found three videos that featured toddlers to pre-pubescent children engaged in various sexual acts, according to the prosecution.
“Oh, I thought I erased that,” Coupal told the officers.
Police then secured a warrant for his Ottawa home. A search there turned up a further 200 child pornography images and 195 videos. (more...)
