Teacher pleads guilty to sex assault
KINGSTON - A former La Salle Secondary School teacher, charged last year with molesting a teenage boy, has been sentenced to 240 days in jail, the equivalent of about eight months, followed by 18 months of probation.
Marc Claege, 52, had worked full-time at the school since 2009 and taught transportation technology.
He was removed from his classroom in May, last year, when La Salle administrators learned of the allegations against him. And even though Claege remained a member of the Ontario College of Teachers “in good standing” while awaiting his day in court, he was prevented by his bail conditions from teaching or working with any capacity with persons under 18.
Claege confessed to fondling the boy immediately after his arrest on May 17, 2013 and has now pleaded guilty in Kingston’s Ontario Court of Justice to a single count of sexual assault. (more...)
