Child porn sentencing begins for disgraced NB city councillor

The sentencing hearing is due to begin Thursday for former Saint John, NB councillor and youth worker Donnie Snook, who pleaded guilty in May to 46 child pornography-related offences.

Snook, 41, was first elected to Saint John council in 2008. He was re-elected in 2012, but resigned after his arrest on Jan. 9, the result of a joint investigation by Saint John and Toronto police.

He was also the executive director of the Saint John Inner City Youth Ministry.

The 46 offences - which include making and distributing child pornography, sexual assault and touching a child for a sexual purpose - took place between 2001 and 2013 and involve 17 boys.  (more...)
