There’s one public service where the Canadian government actually works really hard and they excel, and that’s with their program called MAID (which stands for Medical Assistance In Dying)
In this video Dan Dicks of Press For Truth covers the latest cases of people who are being accepted into receiving MAID not because they actually want to die, but because they can’t afford to live, so the government is facilitating their suicide.
A new study out of Denmark finds that transgender individuals have "significantly higher rates of suicide attempts." This shows that people who DO live an affirmed life still have a high risk of suicide. Not affirming gender does not decrease this risk. Meanwhile, GLAAD has published an open letter from celebrities to speak out on behalf of transgender medicalization. They want social media to disallow people from saying that medicalization of gender ideology is harmful. But it is.

Most wealthy nations in the west have turned to migrant workers to keep a variety of industries afloat. But while the cheap labor of immigrants is welcomed, the migrants themselves are not. Canada is no exception. From the agricultural industry to the service sector, migrants can be found working under dangerous conditions for less than the minimum wage. And in many cases, unions simply aren't doing their part to organize this vital section of the workforce. Elizabeth Ha joins The Real News to discuss the plight of migrant workers in Canada and why the labor movement must embrace them for its own survival.
Elizabeth Ha is the Equity Vice President of the Ontario Federation of Labour. She is also a member of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, the Asian Canadian Labour Alliance, and the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists.

German-Polish relations have been in a crisis, and the climate just keeps getting uglier, as exemplified by recent developments. For instance, Alice Weidel, spokesperson for Alternative for Germany (AfD), Germany’s third-strongest political force today, called in a tweet the area of former East Germany a “Central Germany” - thus implying that territories which today belong to Poland are German lands. This has sparked outrage: Poland’s former PM Beata SzydÅ‚o, in response, said the AfD could in the future power over all of Germany, thus creating a “dangerous scenario for Europe”, because, she claims, it is a party “whose leaders openly negate the existing borders.” She added that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has recently demanded the abolition of the right of veto within the EU and asked: “Should Europe go in this direction? Towards a German-dominated federation?” This provocation from a German political figure takes place in the context of a rising Polish campaign against Berlin.
Meanwhile, two families of Polish WWII victims are suing German companies Bayer and Henschel for €4.3 million over the persecution of Polish businessmen during the Nazi occupation of Poland. Brzozowska-Pasieka, head of the War Compensation Foundation (Fundacja OdszkodowaÅ„ Wojennych), the Polish organization which represents the claimants, claims that these lawsuits are groundbreaking because they have been filed against private companies instead of the German state. Further claims on behalf of other families are being prepared. Commenting on the lawsuits, deputy culture minister JarisÅ‚aw Sellin, lent his support, saying that “German companies which used forced laborers and actually participated in crimes during World War Two were never legally held accountable for what they did.”
Considering that Polish officials back these initiatives, one must see them as also part of a larger trend and context. Last month I wrote on the legal campaign Warsaw has been launching against Berlin for wartime reparations. It is accompanied by harsh anti-German rhetoric, which often describes Germany’s prominent role within the European Union as a “Fourth Reich”. (more...)

A campaign to cancel an anti-war speaking tour represents a troubling return to a more repressive Canadian era. People who care about democracy and free speech should be appalled.
On June 19 Dimitri Lascaris began on “Making Peace With Russia, One Handshake At A Time.” The ten-city tour organized by the Canada-wide Peace and Justice Network follows the former Green party leadership candidate’s visit to Russia.
Concerned about previous shutdown efforts by the government-backed Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC), organizers in most cities have made the venue secret until the last-minute. To mitigate against disruptions, they also required individuals to purchase tickets in advance.
The first stop in London faced an effort to have it canceled but still took place after the owner of the venue refused to listen to multiple hostile emails. The second event in Hamilton was met with an aggressive protest requiring significant security. The Toronto event scheduled for the next evening was canceled at the last minute after the Ontario Public Service Employees Union revoked the room booking claiming they received threatening emails. The next stop in Winnipeg was held at a third location after two different venues canceled on short notice. In Victoria the strategy to disrupt the upcoming talk appears to be to book all the eventbrite tickets without planning to use them. For small, all volunteer groups organizing backup venues and plans is a major burden. (more...)
Canada’s odious history of blocking anti-war voice lives again
On June 14 defence minister Anita Anand tweeted, “Ukraine is fighting for its territorial integrity, sovereignty — and for democracy itself.” During a trip to Ukraine a few days earlier finance minister Chrystia Freeland declared, “in fighting for their lives and their sovereignty, the brave people of Ukraine are also fighting Canada’s fight — the fight for democracy.”
Freeland’s rhetoric about democracy began before Russia’s illegal invasion. In November 2019, the same month she backed ousting Bolivia’s elected president, the then foreign affairs minister declared that Ukraine was at the “forefront of the struggle between democracy and authoritarianism” and that “modern Ukraine is the country where the struggle is ongoing and the future of the rules-based international order and genuine democracy in the world will be determined.”
It’s absurd to suggest that the war in Ukraine or Canada’s role in it is about advancing democracy. While efforts to turn Ukraine into an anti-Russian bulwark began before the demise of the Soviet Union, the war in eastern Ukraine started with the US-backed ouster of an elected president. Despite Canadian election observers endorsing Viktor Yanukovich’s victory in 2010, Ottawa helped overthrow him in 2014. The Harper government immediately sought to destabilize a president opposed to Ukraine joining NATO. During the Maidan protests opposition forces, including the far-right C14, used the Canadian Embassy in Kyiv as a staging ground for more than a week in their successful bid to topple Yanukovich.
The president’s ouster led to a wave of right-wing nationalist violence and political repression. On May 2, 2014, neo-nazi “Right Sector” militants killed over 40 “anti-Maidan”/pro-Yanukovich demonstrators in a fire at the headquarters of the Odessa federation of trade unions. No one has ever been held accountable for the horrific crime. (more...)

Our last visit to Sudan was in 2017. We visited family in Khartoum and Omdurman, enjoying the long desert nights of conversation, laughter, music, and storytelling. We took my sons exploring to see the incredibly well preserved and seemingly never visited pharaonic temples, pyramids, and hieroglyphs of Meroë and Karima. We swam in the Nile in Port Sudan. We saw our ancestral home of Atbara. At that time, I knew in my soul it would be our last time in Sudan for a long while. The writing was on the wall, inequality would soon devolve into chaos.
In the capital you’d see the fall out from the genocide in Darfur and the failed-state of South Sudan. Dozens of small orphaned boys wandering in tight groups, gathering garbage to burn for warmth when night fell, a look of bewilderment on their faces, stunned by the sheer magnitude of their own poverty. Girls of the same age were nowhere to be seen, leaving a dark shadow on the imagination of anyone who dared wonder where they were. Contrast this to the gleaming white marble of the Presidential Palace on the Nile, the convoys of Mercedes G-Wagons, the banquets of opulence and decadence. I had never been so absolutely sure of the catastrophe of danger to come as I was then; the inequality had gone too far, and it would cause everything to burn.
Inequality is a powerfully destabilizing force that cannot and will not coexist with safety. There is a limit on how far the gap can widen before a sinkhole opens and everything falls in. Sudan is an extreme and violent example; we also see inequality devolve into civic collapse in slower motion, for example with the donut-holing of Detroit in which the city economically imploded from the downtown outwards.
The affordability crisis threatens to see Toronto repeat this pattern. (more...)

Joint research project will seek to expand database to include serious injury at the hands of police officers, and track consequences for the officers involved
In 2021 Ricochet won a Michener fellowship to study police misconduct in Canada, a research project supported by the Inspirit Foundation. Today, we are happy to announce our ongoing partnership with the Tracking (In)justice project to jointly pursue the next phase of this critical research — expanding the database of incidents leading to death to also include incidents leading to serious injury as well as, when available, the consequences for the officers involved.
Last year, Tracking (In)justice, composed of academic researchers at Carleton University, Queens University and the University of Toronto, supported by several non-governmental organizations and funded through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, created a publicly-accessible database of police-involved deaths in Canada which is available online.
Rather than duplicate that comprehensive work, we’ve been collaborating since earlier this year to expand our understanding of policing in Canada.
Police-involved deaths in Canada are increasing at a staggering rate, going up over 72 per cent in the six years between 2016 and 2022.
According to the available data, since 2000, Tracking (In)justice have identified 732 police-involved deaths where force was used. 2022 was the deadliest year yet in terms of police-involved deaths, with 69 people dying in interactions with police where force was used. There were 57 such deaths in 2021, and 52 in 2020. The highest number in a single year prior to that was 40 in 2016.
Now we’re working on compiling comparable data for incidents that lead to serious injury, and the consequences for the officers involved. (more...)

The Canadian Paediatric Society's new position statement on gender affirming care for children is the kind of thing that needs to be seen to be believed. Among other absurd recommendations and positions, the paper advocates the prescription of hormone blocking drugs like leuprolide acetate to adolescent boys and girls. This is the same drug that is given to repeat violent sex offenders to chemically castrate them. Once that is prescribed, the paper then moves on to advocating the use of hormone replacement drugs. These hormone replacement drugs – as the statement clearly states – will permanently decrease fertility to extent not yet known. Finally, they advocate "gender-affirming surgeries" for adolescent girls.
The truth is, the three-headed monster of government, medicine and education have been working together to create a barrier between parents and their children to such a degree that parents have next to no recourse once their child believes they were born in the wrong body.

Once again, the evidence makes it clear that the West wants to involve Belarus in the current conflict. In a report published by The Times it was informed that exiled Belarusian militants are being trained in Polish territory in preparation for a future insurrection in their country.
According to the newspaper, the "Bypol" group, an extremist dissident militia that actively participated in the attempted color revolution in 2020, is based in the Polish city of Poznan, where an intense military training program is being conducted. Journalists went to the field to interview some of the militiamen and reported that the number of recruits is already "in the hundreds".
The program would have started many months ago, bringing together "common Belarusians" who want to give a response to President Aleksandr Lukashenko's “Stalinesque campaign of torture and detention [that] has all but silenced dissent” in Minsk. To add credibility to this narrative, the paper interviewed an exiled woman involved in the training nicknamed “Predator”. The 42-year-old dissident explained that she is the mother of a child who is unaware that she is currently in a military program. The option for combat would apparently have been motivated by the need to "fight for Belarus".
“My daughter doesn’t know I am here. I told her I was going paintballing (...) []However] I came here today (…) to prepare for the fight for Belarus", "Predator" told journalists during an interview. (more...)

The war-torn east European country is a mecca for some of the most odious people on earth. What sort of threat does this pose to their home countries?
At the end of April, two French neo-Nazis – Alan Vineron and Guillaume Andreoni – who had joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine as mercenaries, were arrested and convicted in their home country. Two months earlier, one of them had posted photos of three executed Russian prisoners on social media.
However, Vineron and Andreoni were detained not because of any war crimes, but for attempting to smuggle weapons and munitions back home, including rifle scopes and magazines for machine guns. After a brief trial, they were sentenced to 15 months in prison each, nine of them to be served conditionally.
This incident is only the first sign of things to come. According to French media, about 400 French citizens are taking part in the armed conflict in Ukraine. Of these, about 100 are directly involved in the fighting, and about 30 are well-known far-right extremists.
It’s not just Paris that will soon face the prospect of militant neo-Nazis returning home. Observers note that the number of volunteer foreign fighters in Ukraine has reached thousands. (more...)

Sexual exploitation

their sexual partner is in position of trust or authority towards them, for example their teacher
The age of consent is raised to 18 when the older party is in a position of trust or authority over the other, the younger party is in a relationship of dependency with the owner, or if the relationship is exploitative. (more...)

Canada has repeatedly imposed sanctions packages on Russia, both before and after the special military operation (SMO) began. Canada’s recent seizure of a Russian AN-124 cargo plane, which had been delivering COVID supplies when it was grounded in February 2022 at Pearson Airport (it was forced to pay a fee for every minute, despite being trapped there), is another sanction among many others.
This is not surprising, as Canada and the UK obediently follow Washington's policies. Canada has a large Ukrainian diaspora, including descendants of the Nazi SS Division Galicia, many of whom actively support Zelensky's regime. Moreover, Chrystia Freeland, the deputy prime minister of Canada and the recent Minister of Foreign Affairs, is the maternal granddaughter of Mikhailo Khomyak, who during the Second World War worked as the editor of the Nazi newspaper "Krakovskie vesti" in Nazi-occupied Poland. The newspaper glorified the Third Reich and justified the extermination of the Jews. According to the media, Chomiak worked under the organizer of the Holocaust on Polish soil, the governor-general of the executioner Hans Frank. Freeland has honoured Chomiak and refused to condemn him. So who orders the Canadian anti-Russian sanctions is a rhetorical question. Another thing is, do they actually work?
The regime of anti-Russian sanctions after Russia's annexation of Crimea has been in place in Canada since 2014, and these sanctions were periodically tightened until the SMO began in February 2022. However, for example, in March 2021, Ivan Timofeev, program director of the Russian Council on Foreign Affairs (now director general of RIAC), stated that "Canada's new sanctions against Russia over Crimea are harmless for the Russian economy. At the time, he assessed these sanctions as "a political irritant for Russian-Canadian relations." Timofeev explained that "these measures will not change anything and in general they can be considered symbolic. The gesture is harmless, but unpleasant."
Although these sanctions were strengthened by Canada after the SMO began, in September 2022, Canadian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland said that anti-Russian sanctions were negatively affecting Canada's own economy.
"Yes, the sanctions regime is having an impact and it's affecting Canadians," Freeland said. According to her, sanctions are affecting Europe much more seriously than Canada. As for the Russian fertilizer ban and the prospects for lifting it, Freeland said, "we have to look at the specifics of what we're doing to help and assist our agricultural producers.
In February 2023, Stephane Bergeron, Canadian Member of Parliament (MP) and vice-chairman of the Canadian parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, said that some of Canada's economic sanctions against Russia were counterproductive and should be reconsidered:
"Canada is one of the few, if not the only country that has imposed sanctions on grains and seeds shipped from Russia. As a result, our agricultural producers are at a disadvantage, while Russian goods are much more productive and profitable in international markets. This is utter stupidity! (more...)

A case to free (verb) the land (of Ukraine) tracing back to Nazi collaboration in WWII.
A cover-up story of an ancestor of Western Ukrainian political and military immigrants from the woman who froze Canadian bank accounts.
Let’s start with several questions and and a hypothetical situation in order for you to understand the events described further in this article.
Imagine yourself born and further living in a country where you speak a language that is different from a language other people speak in this country. Then imagine that your parents tell you stories about suppression from other nationalities living in the country. Then imagine your parents taking you out of the country to save your life. Then imagine you grow up and you have a dream to visit the country where your parents lived but had to escape from the atrocities of the war. Think! Done? Well, this should give you some glimpse into the thoughts of people who emigrate to other country because of the war – you might feel that everything you had in your life has been taken by some other people, your thoughts are confusing, the body might not respond to you, people around do not help – you might feel as forsaken by your friends, your god, your country, your companions.
Now let’s proceed to describe a situation that happened to the parents of Chrystia Freeland. We need to look at those events in order to understand what happened during WWII and after. We will write this article describing major events only in order to save your time getting to core information (you’re welcome!). (more...)

Stepan Bandera became famous in the 1940s for his nationalist views and brutal massacre of civilians. Bandera headed the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), which activities are classified as genocide in Poland. He worked as Hitler’s agent and executed civilians on the territory of Ukraine. However, this does not prevent modern Ukrainian authorities from hailing Stepan Bandera as a national hero and shaping their national identity on his ideas. In 80 years, Bandera supporters have abandoned neither their fighting methods nor the barbaric cruelty towards innocent civilians advocated by their now-deceased leader.
In 1974, the well-known British psychiatrist, Dr. William Sargant, published a book, The Mind Possessed: A Physiology of Possession, Mysticism and Faith Healing. The book was a sequel to his 1957 study, The Battle for the Mind: A Physiology of Conversion and Brainwashing, the earlier book being a how-to-do-it manual for producing a “cultural paradigm shift” towards an existentialist, irrationalist dark age society, which was precisely the agenda of the Congress for Cultural Freedom.
In the 1957 study, Sargant had written: “Various types of belief can be implanted in many people, after brain function has been sufficiently disturbed by accidentally or deliberately induced fear, anger or excitement. Of the results caused by such disturbances, the most common one is temporarily impaired judgment and heightened suggestibility. Its various group manifestations are sometimes classed under the heading of ‘herd instinct,’ and appear most spectacularly in wartime, during severe epidemics, and in all similar periods of common danger, which increase anxiety and so individual and mass suggestibility.”
Dr. Sargant was a prominent British Tavistock Institute psychiatrist, who spent two decades, beginning in the mid1950s, working in the Congress for Cultural Freedom-linked Cybernetics Group/MK-Ultra project on the use of psychedelic drugs and other forms of brainwashing for mass coercion.
The traumatic events of the 1960s—from the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis near-eruption of global thermonuclear holocaust, to the Nov. 22, 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and the subsequent flagrant coverup; to the later assassinations of Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King, and Robert F. Kennedy; to the urban race riots, and the mass carnage of the American war in Southeast Asia—transformed the post-World War II Baby Boomer generation from an optimistic, future-oriented generation, into a collection of irrationalist, babbling counterculturalists and drug abusers, in total denial of reality, and living from one sensuous experience to the next.
When the dust finally settled on the 1960s, the Baby Boomers emerged with a new set of wildly irrational axiomatic beliefs, typified by the mass appeal of radical environmentalism, and the even more widespread belief in consumerism and the “magic of the global market.”
Such ideas would have been shunned but a decade earlier when America was still a production-oriented society. But that was before the great “shock traumas” of the 1962-71 period. (more...)
